If you get mad when you see employees at a business you are patronizing laughing, enjoying each other's company, and goofing off, you're a dick. Empathize with people working a shitty underpaid job, and let them enjoy what little fun they get.
@RickiTarr
Absolutely, I highly dislike when I see customers picking on employees or employees picking on customers.
I was bullied a good bit. It bothered me then but I later decided it wasn’t worth my time.
Now I’m a huge activist for #Kindness and #Compassion and #Acceptance

#US#Judge Royce C. #Lamberth is the latest in broad, public push by #FederalJudges against #Jan6#revisionism [Another] #Republican-appointed judge said he plans to send a written response to supporters of a Jan 6 rioter who claimed that he did nothing wrong, warning the man’s friends & family members that justifying #PoliticalViolence risks further #violence in a “vicious cycle” that “rots republics.”
Judge #Lamberth’s move is the latest in a wider public push by #FederalJudges in Washington to counter what polling shows is an uptick in public #acceptance of the #violent breach of the #US Capitol on #Jan6, 2021, fueled by Trump’s escalating rhetoric casting defendants as “political prisoners” & “hostages” who did nothing wrong. #Trump has pledged to pardon #J6#insurrection defendants, including those who assaulted police.

Not Metal Enough - A Psychological Perspective on Gatekeeping
Psychologist Steve Byrne goes deep on the culture of gatekeeping in metal.
Paris born #Nigerian#songstress Aṣa has just released her newest single, “Odo,” accompanied by a captivating #music video, much to the delight of her devoted fanbase.
While glimpses of #QueerRelationships are subtly depicted in the video, Aṣa’s understated representation underscores the importance of #inclusivity and #acceptance, particularly during a period when the #LGBTQ+ community continues to advocate for visibility and equality.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention #genchat itself as something I've been thankful for. It's been part of my life since its beginning in 2013, connecting me with new #genealogy friends & even some cousins!
As a host since 2018, it's expanded my knowledge & my horizons.
And this past year, I'm especially grateful for this Mastodon community. It's been fun watching #genchat slowly grow & take hold. I'm looking forward to 2024! @genchat

SEPULTURA's ANDREAS KISSER: 'I Don't Understand Why People Are So Afraid To Talk About Dying'
..Kisser, whose wife ...passed away... after a battle with colon cancer, was asked what the experience... taught him about life.
A lot of people feel scared when they think about death. In fact, “fear” might not be the right word. I think “terror” is a better one. But is being afraid of death a reasonable reaction? The word “appropriate” is very important here. I’m not going to say that I don’t think a lot of people are afraid of death. What I want to know is if being terrified of death is the right thing to feel.
People yearn for acceptance, to be acknowledged for who they are. No one enjoys being ostracized, sidelined, or ignored.
Algorithms on certain social platforms can sometimes foster these feelings, leading to sadness or, worse, anger.
Let's strive for inclusivity in our online spaces.
"Earth close to ‘risk tipping points’ that will damage our ability to deal with climate crisis, warns UN
Analysis also warns of further tipping points on horizon such as drying up of groundwater vital for food supplies"
It is clear that a collapse is not just a '#doomer' scenario, but a real threat. #Acceptance of that fact is step 1 towards a sane way of dealing with the situation. The next step would be to adopt another mindset. A very profound #Mindshift is needed.
Why it is unlikely that we can avoid a collapse of both the ecological system and western civilisation is the main topic of my book, but in the last part of it I focus mostly on the things that we can do that will soften our #crashlanding.
Story time: I was at the park playing pickleball with my spouse and kid. A guy was wandering around, occasionally interacting in small ways with other groups. He was heavy set, wearing leisure clothes, crocs, and looked clean.
He wandered into our court, walked through the middle of our game, and stood by our gear looking at it. He asked, "there's an extra paddle, can I play?" I said yes and let him play on my side. He played for a little while and moved on.
As I get ready to start my day, I came across this quote. I recently found closure myself through this.
Sometimes, we don't get the apology we deserve, and sometimes, we don't get closure we need because of that.
Sometimes, it's up to us to provide the apology and the closure, even though it's not our responsibility to do so. Acceptance is such a powerful tool and highly underrated. #goodmorning#quotes#acceptance
On September 8, 1966, Star Trek debuted for the first time on #television with “The Man Trap,” the pilot episode of Star Trek: The Original Series. On that day, Star Trek creator #GeneRoddenberry introduced audiences to a world that championed #diversity, #inclusion, #acceptance, and #hope.
After several years of this poetry submission process, it's taken on a certain subliminal/emotional rhythm.
I steel myself and send off a bunch of subs to various magazines
Occasionally this is followed by an #acceptance or two, usually very quickly. Honeymoon period.
Then I get to wait 1-6 months for the rest of the responses, and this is sort of a dull doomed feeling, because these are inevitably #rejection emails.
There is a whole community of Autistics out there struggling with burnout, exhaustion, social interactions, exclusion, lack of accommodations, sensory overwhelm, and more.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
And these things are not intrinsic to Autism. They are part of how society is designed to exclude differences to try to get us to conform.
They can be changed and we will all be better off for it.
