Okay we have established that Tanvir Sultan, MBA is a Satire account, but y'all, what about Nick Adams? Also Ex-Evangelical Janeway is a superior screen name.
@NickGates Women are only objects to procreate with for these dudes, they should be walled off into their own country with just each other and some blow up dolls for company
@RickiTarr Does Nick Adams realise that "alpha" usually means incomplete, probably not fit for purpose, usually full of bugs, and pretty much useless? 😉
@Ulrich_the_Elder@RickiTarr I tried that. I'm not sure it had any effect. I'm putting that down to the fact that I have no idea who the "alpha" male is!
@RickiTarr Satire was never particularly easy to do well, and since the day Satire DIED, on Nov. 6, 2016 it has been practically impossible which is why most of the satire sites immediately switched to being trusted news sources. I hope this helps.
@RickiTarr I read somewhere that if Nick Adams is playing a character, he has never once broken or even winked at the audience. So either is that stupid, or he is the best troll since Andy Kaufman.
@quincypeck RIGHT, IT'S MISSING THE OCCASIONAL WINK. Colbert played a Conservative Pundit for years, but he'd often break character when he would interview people
@RickiTarr to me Nick Adams seems like satire, but Sam Hyde satire. I.e. those are his real opinions. But he's aware of how those takes come across to critical thinkers, so frames it like a character like Colbert. But naw. Das him.
There's a certain point where playing a character like "Nick Adams" is no different from explicitly being that person. There's no distinction between "Hooters is the greatest restaurant for raising boys to become men" and "Hooters is fine, I just don't like liberals disliking it" if the only way you present it is the former.
@RickiTarr
Tanvir is satirical because he's definitely making fun of his own character.
Nick is not serious, but also not satirical. I guess that just makes him a professional troll. He knows what he says is ridiculous and it's something of a character he's playing but he also is actually far-right.
@ksawatsky@RickiTarr That might be the most astute explanation of Nick Adams. I've been trying to figure him out for a while. I thought maybe it's a long con with his ridiculous anecdotes and extolling the virtues of Hooters and telling people to raise their daughters to be more like Lauren Boebert, but there's got to be more to it. Maybe on some level he really does think Hooters is the best restaurant in America (they do have good wings) and Boebert is a good role model.
@ksawatsky@dbsalk I love most of those things too, and yet I'm an actual patriot, and don't need to brag about my gender, something I had nothing to do with.
@ksawatsky@RickiTarr@dbsalk Nick continues: I am also arrogant, self-righteous, egoistic, egocentric, totally ignorant of the world around me and personally, as a "patriot and an Alfa-male, I prefer to remain that way!
@jgkoomey@ksawatsky@RickiTarr@dbsalk Just remember that in physics an alpha particle can barely penetrate anything, but when it does it often causes untold damage.
