I find myself exhausted when scientists talk so much about replication crises but so little about the heterogeneity of resources and training.

I mean, the choices made in the lab are not happening in a separate reality from the pressures on grad students and the training they have available to them. All things are environments as well as individuals.

Caring about equity in education and access and shared open resources in science IS caring about the trustworthiness of our evidence.

One thing that I really like about the Debian installer (as user-unfriendly as can be) is the option for which desktop environment(s) to install.

I do like KDE Plasma and ran it for a while, but there are still things that are a bit rough around the edges with certain graphics adapters and Wayland that kept it from it being my current DE of choice.

I would like to see both GNOME and KDE Editions of Fedora Workstation being published and promoted equally rather than the latter usurping the former for a single Fedora Workstation edition.

I decided to try to make #Springerles. I used to love them.

Nobody told me it takes 3 days to make them.

But the kitchen smells awesome on day 1.

On day 2, the smell is better; the dough sticks to the high tech, laser cut molds making me wish I ordered the old-school chess pieces but here we are.

And the leftover dough, as little as there is, tastes heavenly* but puts me into sugar shock.

Tomorrow, we bake. And taste.

Getting 67% of 10,000 Republican primary voters and 80% of 50,000 Democratic primary voters is completely different if you swap the number of voters. In this example, the 80% of 10000 is pathetically fewer actual votes than 67% of 50,000.

Maybe they could tell us how many actual votes they got? You know, apples vs apples.

    How do you feel about physical touch? I mean this is the broad sense, not necessarily in a sexual way, but you can answer however you wish.

    Personally, I enjoy it a lot, and find it comforting, but only from really specific people. If strangers or people I don't know well want to hug me, it's okay, but I won't seek it out. I think handshakes are weird. Hey, you want to hold hands with a stranger for a short amount of time for some reason?
