It's wild looking at all sites you can pay to flood the internet with grey-goo AI-authored articles for SEO

I just hit upon Findable, which says you can "use our no-code product suite to deploy a tonne of pages as quickly as possible": https://www.findable.au/

Deploy a ton of pages!

Here's their blog post detailing some of terms they recommend autogenerating stories on: https://www.findable.au/blog/head-terms-for-pseo

None of this is new, but always fascinating to see how straightforward they are

@clive AI content is the new content spinning, and there’s a 99% chance Google can detect it and will burn it down in the future.

One of the things I've observed, generally practice, and like about Mastodon users – not all of them of course – is that it's okay to just let things go. If you don't agree, you can disengage, and still look forward to viewing their posts and interacting with them again on something you are more aligned on. That is the civil discourse, at least in this sea of social, that I desire.

@jake4480 For sure, the open concern is that they would either bend rules and/or try to take over the protocol or make their own (think Blink and Chrome). I fall into the bucket of not trusting Meta, but I simultaneously think that making the Fediverse mainstream will require a big player like this. Will it get messy in the future? Probably.

I really really dislike leaf blowers.

We have a lot of trees. Oaks, beech and others. So the lawn is blanketed in leaves at this time of year.

So I got a gadget.

A hand pushed Gardenia leaf and grass collector.

It’s brilliant!

It used to be a big deal to ask someone what time it was. Especially on rainy days. And you wouldn’t dare ask at nighttime for fear of ridicule and floggings.

This is absurd and ridiculous. It sets a dangerous precedent for the open web and sharing of ideas. The focus is on Google and Meta, but this ultimately affects the indie developers and news-focused sites and services. It’s a link tax. It’s a horrible plan that will 100% backfire on these publishers and adversely affect their reach.

Journalism and its publishers are not in a good place right now, but this is not the answer.

Publishers hoping to make some commerce/affiliate money from queries that include "shop" or "deal" can kiss traffic goodbye. Google puts all searchers into a Shopping experience. Interestingly, when you click on an item, the experience is very similar to how Neeva functioned.
