I love how this “Created by AI, edited by humans” summary of the chat I had with Doc this month starts off mildly enough with “A great chat on FLOSS Weekly regarding alternate funding models to support ethical tech projects…“ and ends a few paragraphs later with “…Balkan provided an urgent call to action to avoid extinction at the hands of unchecked capitalism.”

Well that escalated quickly!

How is it I’m only just learning about Feedle – @feedle – by @preslavrachev?

Search for a topic – e.g., JavaScript or ethics or whatnot – and the returned result is available as an RSS feed.

This might just get me back into using an RSS reader again because the thing I struggle with the most is curating feeds.

@simoncox I got one of those back in the day and used it in a sports bar, and to my amazement, it worked! And then I thought I was going to be murdered and did my best to not look suspicious, and I never used it again 😂

I dreamt last night that I had this tiny stick as a phone and there was no screen or apps, and I remember feeling happy and at peace about it. That seems like a pretty clear message from my unconscious on how to take better care of myself.

@davemark I wasn't able to find the video clip, but Rachel Maddow recently covered how Jimmy Carter made it his mission to try and eradicate Guinea worm. Rachel reported that there has only be 6 cases reported in the entire world in 2023. Here's an article from earlier this year about his health crusade.

It is getting increasingly awkward that my only daily drivers are a Win10 machine and a laptop based on antiquated MacOS. I should get a simple Linux laptop.

Last time I tried to do this though it turned out any laptops that run Linux with full hardware support out of the box are pretty expensive.

I decided to experiment with adding my own video Schema for an embedded YouTube video and to add Mark Zuckerberg and Meta as entities to it, along with some other extra tweaks. Typically, YouTube wins out in the SERPs or the trusted site that created the video, but I think the combination of my Schema, having the video above the viewport (above the fold), and the relevancy of the article content to the video and search query, my little site won out.
