@GottaLaff NFL Johnson is as vile any sycophant in the swamp, more dangerous for the oleaginous religiosity he wears on his sleeves.

As ever, the projection is straight to the bulls-eye. Johnson is a man who is clearly on a mission for personal revenge (and aggrandizement), widely seen as a factotum who has trouble with the truth.

Trouble, as in, is totally fine with deception and lies that serve his purpose.

And totally cool with destroying the justice system along the way.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think college graduations are a total waste of money and time. The real world doesn't GAF about if you took a long time to finish a project. The speeches are almost always forgettable pablum.

Save the students' money and cancel them all.

@mattsheffield well, that's a curmudgeonly view. I dismissed my first two, in part because they were inconvenient (in Decembers), and then wanted to be part of the third. And then attended several of next-gen family members' graduations. They were all worth my time, but most especially the nursing ones. They're a big deal. Congrats to your fortunate circumstances if they seem inconsequential to you.

@futurebird My wife took on childcare for her previous husband's 2 boys when they were wee, and he commanded her to keep them in the playpen so they wouldn't harm the stereo.

She put the stereo in the playpen and let the boys out. As one does.

Your question ending with "various speakers being thrown out of the crib" confused me for a moment, wondering if it was a similar story. 😃

This interview of Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) demonstrating that she takes credit for laws she voted against is absolutely fantastic.

But it's also incredibly rare in American media. That's because the "both sides" framework is not a mistake. They deliberately choose to coddle Republicans and allow them to get away with blatant lying.

We need more journalism like what Miami CBS reporter Jim DeFede engaged in here.

It's time to end the "right privilege" that reactionary Republicans enjoy.

@jeffjarvis Thx for highlighting; it was on my reading heap yesterday. The headline is awful (but effective click-bait, I suspect).

In my experience, Edsall is always worth reading. He surveys what other thoughtful people have said, with useful breadth.

There is no question that Trump's abnormalities (and crimes) have been normalized by his supporters, and by his many GOP detractors who turned tail and pledged fealty after he won in 2016. I.e., the "we" is people discussed, not anyone quoted.

Been seeing toots about privacy concerns w/Chrome. It's on my laptop (& phone) thanks to the power of "default." As a long-time Firefox user, I knew that was the better answer for me.

Just installed Fx on my (w10) laptop, and I was SUPER impressed with the ease and quality of the install. Migrate bookmarks and saved logins? Yes, please! It was remarkably easy and quick.
