@jeffjarvis Thx for highlighting; it was on my reading heap yesterday. The headline is awful (but effective click-bait, I suspect).

In my experience, Edsall is always worth reading. He surveys what other thoughtful people have said, with useful breadth.

There is no question that Trump's abnormalities (and crimes) have been normalized by his supporters, and by his many GOP detractors who turned tail and pledged fealty after he won in 2016. I.e., the "we" is people discussed, not anyone quoted.
