@schrottkatze ich habe nicht wirklich viel Erfahrung, da ich mich lange gedrückt habe. Primär weil überall steht wie kompliziert der Einstieg ist.

Jetzt habe ich meine erste Doku geschrieben und könnte nicht glücklicher sein wieviel einfacher das alles ist als mit anderen Tools (vor allem Pages, Word, etc.). Markdown kann dann einfach doch etwas zu wenig und da springt #LaTeX perfekt rein.

Alles in allem: sehr gut, alles soooo viel einfacher als bisher.

Es hilft natürlich, dass ich #vim nutzen kann dafür.

Does anyone know how to force macOS to sync (iCloud) contacts? There does not seem to be a "refresh" or "update" command in the Contacts app.

I just wanted to help someone with an issue on macOS. I’ve read their next post first and as somehow macOS was „bad“, „shit“ and „at least I don’t need to use it daily“, I wrote this post instead of helping them. I’m really happy with my decision.

@adminforge Gibt es eine Möglichkeit bei einer Antwort diese auch an die anderen Empfänger zu verteilen? Also wenn ich einen Alias habe, der an zwei Empfänger geht (A und B) und ich antworte von A, so dass dann auch B die Antwort bekommt.

@adminforge Ja, sorum klappt es. Aber wenn ich dann auf eine solche Mail von einem Empfänger antworte, dann weiß der andere Empfänger nichts davon.

Hintergrund: ich versuche eine Family-Adresse zu erstellen, die man an Firmen/etc. geben kann, Mails an diesen Alias gehen an zwei, Antworten sollten möglichst von dem Alias ausgehen (das klappt) und eben auch an den anderen verteilt werden.

@adminforge Nee, ist immer noch nicht ganz das was ich suche – auch wenn's nicht geht, versuch ich nochmal es zu erklären:

Ich richte mir alias@example.org ein, der geht an user1@example.org und user2@example.org.

Nun gebe ich alias@example.org an eine Firma, die schreibt dort hin (Handwerker oder sowas). Also kommt die Mail bei user1 und user2 an.

Nun antwortet user1 auf diese Mail und es geht damit eine Mail von alias@example.org an die Firma. Hier hätte ich gerne noch einen zusätzlichen Empfänger user2 (quasi BCC).

Das geht zwar manuell, aber dann muss ich (und meine Frau) bei jeder Mail dran denken, was sicher öfter mal schief geht.

For my hackathon project I did try to make CFA (Cat Factor Authentication, using your cat's microchip as a second factor) a thing 😆 The project did win a prize, but more for the experimentation then the actual result https://wpengine.com/blog/hackathon-december-2023/

I'm still mulling over my #home #networking project of connecting three buildings. Currently two of the buildings are connected with a #tplink bridge but I'm not happy with the weird subnetting.

Anyone have strong opinions on equipment if starting fresh? I'm considering #ubiquity gear as I've used it with some success in the past. Also considering #opnsense or #pfsense for the routers.

I could, in theory, bury a cable for it but that's real effort so I'm going wireless.

@hobbsc if it’s reachable via local LAN only the first few packets go over the internet, the rest will be handled via a direct connection.

I’m using #tailscale in my local network too, it’s so convenient to have no distinction between being at home or sitting halfway round the world and still just connecting to my home server.

@hobbsc the advantage of tailscale is that it's totally transparent to your infrastructure. If you only have internet between the nodes, it uses this; if you otoh have a direct connection it will use this.

PSA: I wear progressive lenses and have long struggled with working at my computer. When I got new glasses, I also got a pair tuned to the distance I normally sit from my monitor and I will tell you it’s made a world of difference. Something to consider if you wear glasses. I got the cheapest lenses and frames I could get that weren’t cat lady glasses (not that there is anything wrong with those, they just make me look funny)

@jerry I can confirm everything Jerry said here. I’m using my „computer glasses“ for about 1.5 years now and it makes such a difference.
