Where do you live and how do you feel about it?

Obviously, don't tell me exactly where you live, no actual addresses please! You can be as vague as you like.

I live in Central Missouri in the U.S.

Pros:

This is an absolutely beautiful place, green rolling hills, lots of rivers, lakes, ponds, and natural springs, cool caves to explore.

Lots of farming here, so great access to quality fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, and dairy.

It's relatively inexpensive to live here compared with other states, because it's a "flyover".

I'm close enough to three major cities, that it's an easy day trip, and I'm about halfway to anywhere in the U.S.

We have one of the best Conservation departments in the U.S. and this is one of the few things that is a bipartisan issue. Lots of awesome nature programs that are free or cheap, state parks, conservation areas, bird watching, hunting, boating, foraging available to everyone.

Cons:

Yeah, it's a big one, it is a RED STATE, while a lot of the cities are blue, there is a large rural population, that votes red. Abortion is not legal here. People often vote against their own self interest.

While I'm not against responsible gun ownership, lots of people aren't responsible, and people have access to guns that definitely should not.

We have very few employee protections here, while the cost of living is relatively low compared with other places, it's taken years to get to a $12 minimum wage, and it's still not enough.

Don't fall for the lie - please support the actual Democrat running against him for State Treasurer, Elizabeth Steiner.

Astonishingly, I was awarded an 8% raise (!) at my 6-year performance review. Everything I can tell about my company's owner/founder/CEO suggests that he would like nothing more than to fire me as a cost-cutting measure--but apparently, I'm too useful to the running of the actual business itself not to be retained. (I handle a LOT of stuff for these folks.)

Anyway, the upshot is I may soon have money to support a couple more small creators! Who should I check out?? #LFR

PSA: If you enjoy old school #roguelike games in the vein of #Nethack, and you've been wanting a mobile option, try Pathos, a.k.a. #PathosNethackCodex. It's free and ad free, developed by a single programmer (Callan Hodgskin), and features a few different 'codices' (gameplay modes), though I find the classic Nethack version to be the most enjoyable. Excellent touch controls, simplified gameplay that retains plenty of challenge, and 4 tilesets. Android, iOS, Linux & more!

Just spent like 6 minutes grappling with a busted ReCaptcha test that kept asking me to try again no matter how many times I correctly selected images... All just to try and say a simple "thanks" to a former illustrator of paperback #SFF for the art she made. Eventually I had to give up. #Portland family: in case you haven't heard, there's a brief but severe #WinterStorm watch for our area from Friday afternoon (January 12th) through Saturday night. Expect overnight lows around 11° Fahrenheit, with a Saturday high between 20-25°, wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour, and up to 8 inches of snow. In #PDX that probably means power outages, too, and some equipment (like heat pumps) may not operate well in the cold. Please prepare so you can safely endure this. Stay warm! Good luck!

Anyone who primarily uses #YouTube for just listening to music (like I do) should consider trying out an app like @newpipe (NewPipe). I haven't dealt with an ad or interstitial break since I switched, and the mobile app plays sound while my phone is locked without missing a beat. I don't know if it'll be around forever, but I do know I'm never going back to just "www dot youtube dot com" for online videos again.

Quick reminder that you can generally be in favor of A Thing and still criticize what you see as its flaws or shortcomings. "You're either with us or against us" is a reactionary talking point, not a valid life philosophy. Take nuanced stances; you contain nuance, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes I think about how #SuikodenV had one of the best stories of any PS2 JRPG, but nobody really remembers or thinks about it. The Barows and Godwin families were both such interesting factions, and the depictions of courtly intrigue/skullduggery were excellent, especially for the time and medium in question.

It's a damn shame how many creative works never get recognized the way they deserve to be. There's just too much stuff to laud all of it, I suppose.
