Just a little reminder that here in Europe, we play the same exact video games as youth from the United States

We do not have (daily) school shootings however

Instead of blaming video games, start looking at the super easy to get weapons on each corner of street problem

In the 2000s, I didn't think the U.S. political environment could possibly get worse. The President was a nincompoop and a liar, but he had everyone's backing because he was President when 9/11 happened. I can't even wrap my head around how much worse things have gotten since Trump entered politics.

I'm having a ball with some music software called RipX DAW (proprietary, Win/Mac only, sorry). It does an amazing job of separating the different instruments from a recording, and it can translate any of those parts into MIDI. The possibilities are immense!

In 1990 Megadeth released an album entitled Rust In Peace.

On it was a song 1 minute and 51 seconds long called Dawn Patrol which was very explicitly warning about the effects of global warming.

It was SO in the public consciousness back then that a fucking heavy metal band sung about it.

Since then politicians have made impossible promises about future dates, and just kept kicking the can down the road until it was far too late.

I really enjoy the fact that my IT department reboots my laptop overnight on a regular basis, combined with the fact that it takes about ten minutes for my laptop to stop going crazy when I log in. It makes for so much productivity when I sit down at my desk in the morning, energized to start work!
(Yes, this is #Windows, of course, and yes, there's performance-intensive security software running in the background that makes launching apps excruciatingly slow and compute-intensive.)

to effectively compete with microsoft, linux needs to up its AI game. heres some ideas:

  • new default shell with "did you mean" autocomplete recommendation carousel showing adverts for popular pay-to-win games using sixel graphics
  • kernel continuously runs strings on /dev/mem and pipes the result up to the chatgpt 32-gigatoken-context model
  • drop support for opengl/vulkan and replace with dall-e for increased realism
  • tux now lives on your desktop and can joke, write rap lyrics, and flirt

@selzero I saw a documentary about a cannibalistic tribe once. Some of them were resentful that the missionaries were telling them that eating people is wrong. One of them said that the missionaries were hypocrites, because he found a human hand in a can of corned beef. I bet Rockefeller tasted like corned beef. Too bad his name wasn't Ruben.
