TIL it's considered passé to use the word 'banger' with regards to a song. Richard Osman has apparently banned it and as we all know he is in charge of the Engerlish language. However I use banger quite a lot. So now have to come up with a pithy word that hyperbolically highlights my enthusiasm for a piece of music. Can we bring back Nathan Barley? That song is well Mexico.

We are in a fancy area and just went into a fancy shop that sells 'stuff'. Here are some cheese markers. They are the ends of forks (tine end) designed to stab into cheese to identify the cheese in a fancy way. Thirty quid. Amazing.

I joke but with Fedi being very left-leaning inevitably most Brits here get their news from the Guardian and music from 6 Music (which is sort of like an eclectic arts station that plays the whole spectrum of genres and champions science and emerging talent). But I do like to tease that everyone reads the guardian and listens to 6 because every time I do, loads of people pop up and say 'Actually I don't! Sometimes I listen to other things!', which is extremely funny to me, as someone who gets their news mainly from the Guardian and music from 6 Music.

As I'm sure you already know (and are probably in full swing celebrations at this point), today is 'End of the Middle Ages Day'. Celebrating the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453, an event many see as the close of the Middle Ages. But more importantly, 'End of the Middle Ages Day' underlines the transition from the Dark Ages (characterised by feudalism, religious persecution, and plague) to a period of rebirth in arts, science, and philosophy known as the Renaissance.

Of course we now find ourselves 571 years later, still fighting feudalist politics, religious persecution, and plague - whilst our arts, science, and philosophy is under attack. So wouldn't it be absolutely marvellous if we see another Renaissance in 2024 and an end to Dark Age of the last 10 or 15 years.

So a very happy #EndOfTheMiddleAgesDay to all.

I am extremely not feeling making dinner tonight. Sadly this isn't really an option in my house. Wife has suggested I just knock together a cauliflower curry and I have gently explained I've never knocked together a cauliflower curry in my life and it is actually quite involved, but by that point she'd stopped listening. Is there a way I could just put a cauliflower into the microwave and serve that as a dinner? I could probably cope with that. Does anyone have an extremely easy goto cauliflower (command) recipe they might be willing to share with me?
