@verge
Love it when tech companies like #Apple or #Microsoft fuck up and reveal their true nature. Still an #iPhone user because it works but I know how to use a faraday bag as well.
@freemo
I used to run a program on my old xp computer back in early 2000s that would answer the call for certain numbers. My grandmother used to get spam calls all the time so I set it up with a recording of my grandmother saying “hello?” And then blast them with a train horn or siren and a bunch of looney toon sounds. Fun times listening to the recording of their reactions. Doesn’t work anymore with no one on the other end now lol
You can literally stick an LCD screen on any BS product that in no way needs an LCD screen, charge an 100$ and im fucking in baby...
my toothbrush has bluetooth and an LCD screen, my flashlight has an lcd screen... now im looking at this cool mouse with a built in LCD screen... im in!
@thenewoil
I once saved my grandmother back in 2006 from giving out her banking info over the phone. I can’t imagine how bad this #tech is going to get.
If there is any #AI tech out there that will devastate our society it’s this #deepfake bullshit. Just imagine how much worse #January6th could have gotten with one rogue “#news” network.
@freemo
Both groups have been going back and forth for what seems centuries. It’s one reason why it’s hard for the western world to negotiate with them. Not sure why this is surprising to people.
“If Chinese companies are collecting data in the U.S., that is a symptom of how lawless our data privacy protections are,” EFF’s Matt Guariglia told NBC News.
Virtually all arguments on the i ternet are between two people each arguing agaibst a fantasy of what the other person said. Neither side even understands the other let alone is arguing against their actual views
@freemo
I do find that some arguments where questions are being raised instead of points of view are often enlightening. Too many assume an an all out onslaught on the other's views, which in turn makes the other side rather defensive.
Admittedly, I'm not good at conversation but it does seem questioning the other side in order to make them question their selves seems to be most effective.
Republican: fascist, authoritarian, Mostly rich old white dudes being racist towards blacks and telling them how they know whats best for them. Their politicians wear red ties
Democrats: fascist, authoritarian, Mostly rich old white dudes being racist towards blacks and telling them how they know whats best for them. Their politicians wear blue ties
@freemo
The longer we keep a two party system the further we will keep this red v blue mentality. I wonder if I will ever see an independent sworn in before I die of climate change.
Why is it when people troll you about a mature discussion they always get bored when they have to deal with actual facts and have an honest conversation...
Sometimes im just astonished by how out there some conspiracy theories are... like not landing on the moon, I guess i can get that cause we are so far removed from it and there isnt any good way to verify it personally... its all trust...
But flat earthers and stuff like that... i just cant get how someone can be that level of stupid...
Apparently it is a conspiracy theory (at least with one person) that nukes dont actually exist and were never used. I mean... i could build you a geiger counter from scratch, i could literally prove nuclear fission with very little parts... how can this stuff even be doubted?
@freemo
I remember listening to some of Shermer’s lectures and then paying attention to some of the weird shit people believe. Some are definitely in the ‘I can’t believe my what my ears are hearing right now’ department.
@freemo
People think it's rather weird, considering what the show itself, but The X-Files is what created my skeptical mindset every night. I knew aliens or shapeshifters were bullshit but it was the way Scully and Mulder worked together. Two parties that seldom see eye to eye still getting shit done.
@freemo #LibreWolf is great. I currently use it along with #Firefox#Tor and #Brave. Testing out the #Mullvad browser currently and it seems to be a solid choice. But I prefer them all to compartmentalize.
So apparently Musk is going to require all users pay to use twitter, no more free accounts of any kind.
Assuming this eliminates ads, might be the first move Elon made with Twitter that will make my personal experience better... not so sure about all the people who cant afford it though....
After years of setbacks, investigations, and rejections, Elon Musk's brain-computer interface company says it's ready for human testing. https://t.co/DTemVreA5L
@freemo
My girlfriend got it 3 times and all of them were pretty serious. Even though I tested positive along side her it didn’t seem like it affected me at all. Weird. I actually felt bad about it.
Anyway hope you don’t have a serious case of it if any at all.
