Voted in person yesterday (usually vote vote-by-mail) because California's Senate Primary was particularly confusing (you can only vote ONCE per Senate race--one for the full term, and one to fill the remainder of Feinstein's term, but the top two candidates get to the general election). So you can't vote for two people in the same race. Check your ballot instructions CAREFULLY! #voting#California
On the other hand, it was pretty easy to use the voting machine, which actually just prints out your vote on a piece of paper you drop into a ballot box. Handy, actually. #voting
🥥 "Donald Trump supporters have been creating and sharing AI-generated fake images of black voters to encourage African Americans to vote Republican."
"The co-founder of Black Voters Matter, a group which encourages black people to vote, said the manipulated images were pushing a "strategic narrative" designed to show Mr Trump as popular in the black community. 🥥 #Voting, #AI, #BlackVoters, #Trump, ##2024Election, #AfricanAmericans, #TuckersBalls https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68440150
I want you to compare how those involved in the false electors scheme are being treated compared to the men and women who mistakenly voted in FL, often after the state approved their voter registration.
Hey y'all, speaking as a #pollWorker who's going to have a 15-hour work day tomorrow starting at 6am after getting home from a trip well after midnight, if your state primary is tomorrow and you haven't already voted, PLEASE make more work for me and other poll-workers by GOING TO THE POLLS AND #VOTING. Even if the results are a foregone conclusion where you live. First of all, they're not, and second of all, YOU SHOULD BE VOTING IN EVERY FUCKING ELECTION. Thank you. #politics#USPol

After he helped create the state’s voting maps, a #redistricting commissioner quietly worked with national #GOP figures to bring a lawsuit against his own work.
"When Dr. Michelle Au ran for State Senate in Georgia in 2020, an experienced political operative told her: 'Don’t waste too much time talking to Asian voters. They don’t vote.'...Dr. Au, a Democrat, became the first Asian American woman to be elected to the State Senate...'People really started to realize that there is a large and growing and quite powerful Asian electorate in Georgia...' said Dr. Au..."
"His campaign invested time and resources to communicate with the district’s diverse population of Asian Americans, who make up the fastest-growing demographic in the city, state and the nation. While it may not be surprising that a more targeted approach to different ethnic communities yielded better results for Suozzi, that strategy hasn't often been part of state Democrats' campaign playbook."
"However, there is still a long way to go with getting young people registered to vote. More than 100,000 18-year-olds in Ohio remained unregistered to vote as of January, according to the Civics Center. "
Although there is good news in this article, the fact that we don't automatically register people to vote is insane.
Anyone else in #Wales / #Cymru been hearing adverts like this during podcasts?
Why is the Electoral Commission running ads in Wales (featuring an actress with a strong Welsh accent) advising that we need photo ID to vote in May? Wales has NO scheduled elections in May, and we wouldn’t need photo ID for local or Senedd elections anyway as they’re not subject to the same fatuous photo ID regulation as England.
Primary voting day today with only one item on our local ballot... choosing 1 of 4 candidates for county board. I went to my usual voting place and was redirected to a local school as there are now two polling places in my village (for the 1st time). Arrived at the school to find a full parking lot and a very long line of cars waiting. I left so as not to miss my haircut appointment. Returned to the school a few hours later and was redirected back to the original place I had gone to vote. 🤷♀️ After being explained to as how to check where I was supposed to vote, I said it wouldn't have mattered if I had done so because I would not have argued with the poll worker. So they called ahead and I returned to the original polling place and successfully submitted my vote because my vote matters (no matter how many tries it takes).
Under legal pressure to address Wisconsin’s “Swiss cheese” and oddly shaped districts, the Legislature approved redrawn maps that promise to create a new dynamic in a state known for its pivotal role in national politics.
An elementary school boy ate $194 worth of lunches at school in Lincoln. When his parents failed to pay the entire amount, the school district referred the rest, $53, to a private #debtcollectionagency that sued the boy’s parents.
The #Nebraska Legislature is considering a bill that would ban the practice of sending unpaid school meal debts to collection firms.
