The SJP at the #UCLA encampment has called for all hands on deck tomorrow at 10am at luskin hotel and requested ppl to follow their telegram channel for updates: https://t.me/+La9h17mlP7E1NTIx
Zionist counterprotesters have announced a gathering from 11am-1pm
Edit: the camp went into lockdown at 8am, meeting at luskin at 10am
met my bestie when we were transfer undergrad students at #NYU trying to navigate a new city and new culture as twenty-something n00bs.
they called to discuss the #StudentProtests. they don't use social media and still depend on legacy media.
they said you would not know these protests were organized with the blessing of Jewish Voices for Peace and in solidarity with Jewish student organizations. she doesn't recall seeing anything about Seders on campus protests. 🧵
so what am trying to say is that, #NYU has tried so hard to make their Jewish founder's identity to be so incidental, that it may be creating a huge cognitive dissonance in a lot of their students and faculty.
“When members of the public are engaged in a peaceful #protest in a public space—assuming they are not obstructing traffic, or disrupting campus activities—there is very little legal basis for law enforcement to demand they leave.”
This filled my ♥️ and made me cry. I haven’t seen Bisan genuinely excited & smile in seven months and it is because of the #students, not world leaders, giving #Gaza hope. Keep going, support each other, #FreePalestine
PAY ATTENTION
the minute French students get involved, it's not a quirky American protest led by #woke Ivy League students anymore. it will become a global protest event.
You're making it very hard for Young Voters to save you from Trump when you talk over them all the time and smear them all as bigots because you are in a Genociders' pocket.
The arrogance and entitlement is visible across the Pond, either snap out of it for book flights for Canada in November.
Students abroad organize sit-ins to support those arrested in #Gaza#Solidarity Encampment - Washington Square News
«The demonstrations, organized at NYU Berlin and #NYU Buenos Aires, called on the university to suspend ties to Israel and protect those arrested at Monday’s encampment from any disciplinary action.»
"The shooting at this large OH public university, coming after years of similar youth-led protests finally convinced a rising cohort of conservative “law & order” pols that the mvt toward making American higher EDU a public good -affordable & accessible to any young person wanting to better themselves -needed to end.
Privatization followed -radically reduced taxpayer support for public U's. Pol divisions & cultural resentments -split America-."
College students protesting the genocide in Gaza, setting up encampments and occupying buildings on their campuses. High among their demands: divestment from Israel.
Cops immediately showing up, even within minutes, to arrest students and faculty.
Cops tasing people, shooting tear gas and other projectiles at those who are peacefully protesting.
College admins suspending students and evicting them from campus housing.
TIMELY REMINDER #cops are the Judas Goats of the working classes. cops aren't the only ones that get to wear a badge and uniform. know who are the cops in your groups, communities, organizations and plan accordingly.
«In stockyards, a Judas goat will lead sheep to slaughter while its own life is spared. Judas goats are also used to lead other animals to specific pens and onto trucks.»
So much of my PTSD from 10 years of being involved in protests and direct actions is from how the the cops and counterprotestors reacted, but the memories of the actions themselves are the opposite of trauma memories yet equally indelible.
Stay safe out there, take care of yourselves and others, don't let them break your spirit and shred your message with cowardly brute strength.
