If I told you how much time I spent adjusting this so all the emulators + retroTerm fit right in borderless windows in the 800x600 box on the :commodore: monitor background you’d understand why I never get anything done 😅
This thing is actually my home server (Plex , Frigate, NAS etc but these MiniPCs have too much untapped power to just sit there doing nothing, so I hooked it up to the TV for some nerdy nostalgia in addition to a huge terminal.
Schifahren update: Added enemies logic to track target to its last known position. A* pathfinding is based on massive 2D bitmap representing solid areas.
Oh, the town is a just debug level
First mock-up/design of #SCUMMTron, a planned evolution of #SCUMM8, which was my 1st attempt to create a #PointAndClick adventure game engine. 🗺️🏗️
This time tho, #Picotron should enable me to add the built-in editor that I never had room to complete in the #Pico8 version.
All concept art at this point (+all subject to change, of course).
Next step is to actually start coding some of this! 😅
(Oh, and I have that other adv game engine to finish also... 😇) #ScreenshotTuesday#GameDev
Here's the result of a little Picotron experiment tonight. (Manually re-created the sprites.) Of note, all the sprites use the default palette, with the exception of Locke's hair. I had to set a customized colour to match his SNES sprite since the other colours I tried weren't quite right. In the years to come, I bet we're going to see some very impressive Picotron carts.
Here are some of the rooms you can find in Orb of Aeternum, each affects the game in unique ways.
Graveyard - fallen enemies respawn as ghosts, allowing you to send them back against their former friends!
Lava Pool - attracts Fire Lizards that breathe fire from afar!
Vampiric Cult - minions regain health when defeating enemies!
Gold Refinery - increases the value of everything you dig up!
It is #wishlistWednesday! I made a dungeon keeper game in #pico8:
⛏️ Mine sweet gold!
🏗️ Build powerful upgrades!
🔮 Protect the Orb!
🗓️Release this weekend!
I'm declaring P8X8 good enough for public release! It's a tool to convert #pico8 carts to #picotron -- it's not perfect and it requires some manual intervention in most cases, but it's magical being able to play a bunch of games on the new system without much effort
Are there like, game engine scaffolds for #Pico8? Been thinking of making something silly in #Twine or #Bitsy, pico8 looks adorable but I assume it's a lot more to work with coding-wise
