Hi everyone! I'm super excited to share that I now have Tarot of the Owls original paintings (a batch of major arcana and more to come!), signed prints of every card, and mini print-at-home/digital stickers available in my shop!
Also - currently all original art and print orders come with a free print from the sale section of my shop!
There are several stories of the #GreekGods turning mortals into birds. One of them is about Askalaphos, the keeper of #Hades' orchard: He saw #Persephone eat the pomegranate seeds and testified against her so she had to return to the underworld every year. In anger, #Demeter trapped him below a giant boulder. When #Herakles came to fetch Kerberos, he rolled the boulder away, freeing Askalaphos. Demeter then turned the gardener into an eagle #owl.
I haven't been around as much lately because I am work on a HUGE project for Indigenous Diabetes Health Circle (IDHC)...Last year they licensed 6 of my owls! They've come back to me for 6 new images featuring canoes. I am doing ALL custom pieces. A busy, but super happy artist. :)
My painting is now finished. I enjoyed sharing some work in progress pics yesterday. The inspiration for this watercolor comes from a wonderful photographer on twitter. Love seeing the daily owl photos.
In Greek mythology, a little owl represents or accompanies Athena and has become known as a symbol of knowledge and wisdom attesting to the staying power of the Olympians. The whispers of Athena's legacy are everywhere.
The symbology of the owl has often inspired my own journey. The ability to see through the darkness of life and find knowledge is a potent totem.
