Good morning from New York.
The mood is more relaxed in Manhattan Supreme Court today. The crowds have ebbed, now that the lead defendant is no longer in town for NYAG v. Trump.
A judge has ruled that #Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House.
Judge Engoron, ruling Tuesday in a civil lawsuit brought by #NewYork’s attorney general, found that the former president and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing. #legal 1/...
As always, I’ll live thread as best I can. As always, I read your replies but can’t reply back while live-threading, so I “like” to acknowledge. (I don’t want people feeling like I’m ignoring)

#EricTrump's testimony will resume as another week wraps in the civil fraud trial. Trump's sons took the stand this week. The ex-president and #Ivanka Trump are on deck next week.
Alina Habba, prowling the well of the courtroom, said this case started before Tish James was elected, pointing at AG. Engoron reminds her to stick to the facts, which she says she is trying to do, but that James’s conduct is part of the factual record.
📌 As always, I’ll do my best to share reports from multiple sources. Once I get going, please don’t expect replies.

But the security presence is big. Beyond uniformed NYS court security officers, there are what look like Secret Service agents in each corner of the courtroom & other suited security that appears to be with the NY AG, who is in her usual 1st-row seat.
The trial is scheduled to last until the end of Dec but is expected to end sooner.
Trump arrived in the courtroom & strode past AG #LetitiaJames, seated in the first row, w/o making eye contact & immediately took a seat at the defense table.
While pool photographers took his picture at the defense table, looking solemn, in camera-ready way, Judge #Engoron looked amused.
New Yorkers don't know where our nearest automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are, so when someone has a heart attack, more people die. A new City Council bill would change that. Help improve it & get it passed! Submit written testimony by 10am ET, April 2nd.
Not a New Yorker? We need expertise in #health education & #data. Or do 30 minutes of research about AED public data in your area. You don't have to write a lot! A paragraph is fine.
Trump’s back for another photo opp and free mic/air time. 1/…

I'm back in #NewYork state Supreme Court, where Donald #Trump is expected to arrive shortly to observe another day of his $250M civil fraud trial. #legal
#Trump won’t make his own closing argument in his #NewYork civil business fraud trial after his lawyers objected to the judge’s insistence that the former president would stick to “relevant” matters.
Judge Arthur Engoron rescinded permission on Wednesday, a day ahead of closing arguments in the trial. #legal
#Trump continued his attacks against #James hours before he returned to court for the 2nd day of arguments in the #civil#fraud#trial that the #NewYork AG brought against him & his company.
In 2 posts on his social platform this morning, Trump used derogatory terms to #attack James while denying any wrongdoing against allegations that he #inflated his #assets.
“Mayor #EricAdams placed limits for the first time on Wednesday on how migrants arrive in #NewYork, pushing back against continuing efforts by the governor of #Texas to send tens of thousands of asylum seekers to the city.
In an executive order, Adams required charter bus companies to provide 32 hours’ advance notice of arrival of a busload of #migrants in the city and limited the times of day at which migrants can be dropped off” #GregAbbott

In 2019, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez questioned Michael Cohen about Donald Trump. Cohen's answers eventually led to Letitia James's fraud lawsuit.
