The #IndieWeb service #Bridgy is ready to handle bridge AT protocol and ActivityPub protocol posts and replies once federation is enabled in production (already working in sandbox test server).
The format will be:
To follow a #Fediverse account from BlueSky / AT protocol: <username>.<server_domain>.ap.brid.gy
To follow a BlueSky / AT protocol user: <username>@atproto.brid.gy
Example: @atp.youronly.one@atproto.brid.gy
This allows users from each side to see new posts and to reply to these threads.
What is more interesting is that, if you have IndieWeb support on your website or blog, you will see comments from BlueSky / AT protocol appear as a comment, thanks to #Webmention. It is already possible to do this with Fediverse / ActivityPub. ^_~
I have racked up a lot of time on trails, and have seen a lot of fungi, but until yesterday, along the #BruceTrail , had never seen anything like this. 👀
Tried to look things up, but I find nothing about such animated mushrooms. 🍄 #fungi#hiking#mycelium#mushrooms#nature#fungusfriday
Ok, I saw bricks or packaging made from #mycelium… but coffins are new to me. 😅
“The Loop Living Cocoon™ is the world’s first living coffin that enriches nature by biodegrading in just 45 days and giving human nutrients back in the most natural way. The Loop Living Cocoon™ is grown in just 7 days from local mushrooms and upcycled hemp fibres.“
So I'm making progress with my #mushroom spawn. Over the weekend I prepared seven jars of popcorn and rye, which are great foods to grow out the #mycelium. The trick is you have to be very clean or risk losing the whole batch to mold. Three jars went to blue oysters, and two jars went to pink oysters. The other two jars are being held back for when my cremini mushroom spawn has grown out enough to risk opening its container (hoping only another week or two). The oysters should be showing good growth over the next week though, and then those much larger batches can be used to seed the bags where I will actually grow mushrooms from. It's taken a lot of work to get everything together, but the next round should be MUCH easier.
And yes, my creminis are still mold-free, although they are growing extremely slowly on the cardboard. I won't wait too much longer before moving them to the grain, though.
You can already turn mycelium into a form of leather, though the normal process of doing so outright kills the fungal cells in the material. Not so much living clothing that could heal itself.
Now, Newcastle University scientists have developed a new leathering process that keeps the chlamydospores alive.
A team of molecular biologists found that fungi keep themselves colder than their surroundings – about 1.4 to 5.9°C colder in one study.
I read this and immediately thought about the world heating up and the recent spate of articles talking about mycelium being used in building construction as well as materials for clothing, packaging, and other products.
Think we'll have fungi-cooled buildings and clothing one day?
When a tree from the forest is cut down, this #mycelium communicates to many trees in the forest that one of them is dying and all the other trees through the mycelium begin to care for the remaining trunk to try to save that life.
We learn to #reconnect with this non-verbal language, understanding that we are all part of the same thing. We are neither superior nor inferior and we still have a lot to learn from the trees and the forest…” #nature#animism
It just dawned on me that the Mastodon #fediverse is like an ever growing #mycelium network 🍄
