The Greek government has announced a $15.4 million project to make its beaches more accessible. The country's tourism minister, Vassilis Kikilias, described equal access to the sea as an "inalienable human right" when he announced the program. Its centrepiece is a solar-powered ramp with a sliding chair that can move beach-goers into the water and can be independently operated by wheelchair users.
I am #biketouring#Greece, and will probably be in Athens in a week or so.
I would like to meet up with #climate minded or #bike minded people, so we can share experiences and tips for activism and lobby.
I currently don't know anyone with this profile there, but perhaps this toot can be forwarded?

A news item #today on #Greek#TV#news is forecasting the hottest summer ever here in #Greece. A science commentator is saying just turning up the air conditioning is not the solution.

Solidarity hunger –
Call to action by Anarchist #prisoner Giannis Michailidis
"In fact, the transition of the
State to a more authoritarian
form reflects the contraction
of social resistance"
"In the aftermath of the murder of Kostas by a #DIAS cop, self-proclaimed “Justice” arms the hands of the cops who will execute unruly kids, Roma, immigrants, protesters in the future. Just as the cops murderers of Sabanis were released, giving the message that #Roma lives have no value.
In an attempt to break the silence, I am joining them and going on a hunger strike in solidarity for as long as Thanos is in the critical phase of his thirst strike.
I send revolutionary greetings to anarchist #AlfredoCospito who is fighting for his life against the 41-bis solitary confinement regime in neighbouring Italy, and is already on his 64th day of hunger strike."
Joined in April, but only recently got the chance to explore the platform properly. Now that I feel more at home, I thought it was time for a long-overdue #introduction.
Brevity is not my forte, and although Mastodon’s largesse on the character-limit front is greatly appreciated, it looks that I will still need several posts… please bear with me!
Hello everyone! My name is Dionysios. I was born in #Greece but made #England my home: #London, #Cambridge and now #Oxford, where I live with my wife and son.
Started training as an #actor in my teens before I fell in love with #opera. I studied #music and became an #operasinger, but I was eventually won over by #stagedirecting and #academicresearch. Since 2012 I direct operas and teach in higher education.
