HamClock is easy to get going, but (a) any chance there's a retina-friendly option, and (b) is there a friendly fork where the source code is maintained somewhere in git, instead of in tarball-form?
@geerlingguy I don't know how much ham radio you're into Jeff, but by and large #hamradio has a spotted history with #foss, often because of the possibility that the software might end up being used commercially or that a bad actor (read: entrepreneur) would try to profit off the work that hams donate to the community under the general non-commercial nature of amateur radio.
The funny part about the removal of networking from the default #keepassxc package on #debian, is that they did it for "security" reasons, without thinking that the MOST INSECURE way to transfer a #password to your #browser is via the CLIPBOARD. Absolutely every running app or service can read the clipboard! And yet, that's the default way they expect users to do it now!
As of yesterday, we have to add the name Alex Pertsev to the list of peaceful, non-violent, political prisoners, who have wronged no other person, but only the pride of governments.
He developed a #privacy tool and was convicted for the potential crimes that someone else may have committed with the tool. There is zero evidence of himself having committed a crime, so the entire sentence of 64 months imprisonment is based on him merely writing decentralized #FOSS and running a Web GUI for it.

I have telegram because it was really easy to set up a bot and a bash script to send messages to it-basically my own little notifications app. But it’s also the only thing I use telegram for. What’s a good alternative? Free and open source preferred. Self hosting as well
We are proud to announce that @xunit is the May 2024 sponsor project for .NET on AWS! They're generously funding our development efforts for the next 12 months.
Ugh, an intensive day with too much sitting, fully immersed in circuit work.
The ramp up with #KiCad tools was very smooth. I didn't find any roadblocks in #schematic capture, part coding, #PCB layout, nor cleaning up DRCs. The tools have come a long way since my last use in 2021! Pleased!
A scan through manufacturability tomorrow and the full cycle is complete. Yay #FOSS.
I'm facilitating the first ever GOAT (Gathering for Open Ag Tech) Book Club this Saturday (5/18), open to any and all! 📚🤓🐐
Session #1 is on "Networks, Peers & the Virtual Class," with readings from Yochai Benkler, Richard Barbrook, Michael Bauwens, and others. More session details in the link below. #bookclub#foss#reading#p2p
I've just found this website, called https://nostalebots.xyz, talking about how stale bots are annoying the author of that blogpost
I don't agree with the tone, its only vaguely making its point, and doesn't convince me with a good argument. GitHub has had stale bots for years, and why is it all of the sudden only now a problem?
#FOSS#OpenSource has multiple protections regarding this, such as CLAs, codes of conduct, and of course, the ethics of the developers themselves, I highly doubt that a specific GitHub bot would erode all of that.
Saddening me time and again is seeing individualism and fragmentation in #FOSS.
#Collaboration between projects that's so often low-hanging fruit, yet never happens. More anticipation of needs, helping each other, be stronger together. Yet it hardly shapes up to the extent that it could.
We seem to lack time to become sustainable, let alone 'win' from #Hypercapitalism. No time to seek collab as we prod on alone.
There are exceptions of course, and better collab tools are becoming available.
My new #Docker container home page. It's called "Flame" it's so damn simple it's lovely.. Thanks to @thelinuxcast for telling about this one ;) #FOSS#Linux
