Bon, allez, parlons d'autre chose.

Gave Element a try and wasn’t really a fan. There are lot of confusing settings. And the e2ee requires local storage and some encryption key you must bring everywhere. Oh and you can’t log off easily. For now I’ll stick with the Revolt hobbyist project. Lot of good people on there.

Disclaimer: I still use

You know, that massive hub of public and private software projects that is the de facto home of open source.

The place owned by the same corporation that just tried to sneak a total surveillance system into the most used operating system by end users and business on the planet.

A couple of years ago I showed that we could start replacing this with a truly alternative. See:

The time has come to build this.

Heya folks! Sync will be delayed a few days this time around so we can evaluate what version of the Linux kernel to update to.

Thanks for your patience!

So, #Windows will not come with #Recall #spyware activated, just Recall spyware pre-installed.

What a relief. Not. 🙄

If I'd own a company which is still using #Microsoft, I'd have a migration path to #Linux worked out meanwhile.

"Nothing To Hide" by unfatarians (unfa's open-source music-making community).

A touching song about surveillance, freedom and privacy.

"I've given up the fight against big brother. I don't get paid for training his AI".

Also just a beautiful, touching piece of music.

@Bro666 @werefreeatlast It’s critically important to manage users expectations with #FOSS - FC is still uniquely set up and challenging to use.

It’s amazing what it can do, but development-wise it feels like #Blender long before it really hit its stride (as well as getting quality tutorials like Blender Guru) several years ago.

@Mojeek Search engines with independent indices I know of so far:

  • Mojeek
  • Brave
  • Stract
  • Mwmble

Last 2 are #FOSS but in an experimental stage.

It's great that Brave actually gives an option to search in Mojeek after 10 results, I think.

Well sometime nice on a Wednesday! I've got Chromium working again on a #PinePhonePro without compiling it on it. My Binary host now includes Firefox and Chromium as browsers so you have options now: https://blog.gjdwebserver.nl/ords/f?p=107:HOME:::::ARTICLE:gjdwebserver-binaryhost-packages

I personal like Chromium more then Firefox, that's why I was working on getting it running on the binary host but it had a bug which always resulted in an error and I have now worked around it.

I am in dire need of feedback for my game Unhaunter: FOSS 2D Paranormal Investigation / Ghost Hunting.
If you would be interested on following my updates and sharing your feedback, please join r/Unhaunter ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Unhaunter ) - I would really appreciate it ✨

Please boost this also for more coverage 🚀 - the intersection between FOSS+Phasmo+Contributors is very small. I do not know how or where to go to target the people that might be interested.

Nice! #Miro and #Mural are great. But what we would really need is proper #FOSS alternatives to those platforms.

I've been looking around for those, but nothing I found even comes close.

Meanwhile these commercial SaaS platforms are becoming ever more popular, getting deeply integrated into many daily processes and workflows.

Ah, imagine.. decentralized, self-hostable Miro alternative on the Fediverse 😊 would be lovely.

The excellent 2D game engine Ct.js has recently gotten an awesome new feature... CatNip, a new visual programming system.
This makes Ct.js an excellent choice for beginning .
https://gamefromscratch.com/ct-js-game-engine-gets-new-catnip-visual-scripting-language/

vintprox,
@vintprox@techhub.social avatar

@GameFromScratch

Considering that I've learned about this shiny new feature only through you, really is underselling itself and there is even zero word about visual programming language on GitHub. Plus yet another tool network effect of which is confined in Discord. So, branding attached to favorite programming language isn't the end of the story. :ablobthinking:

I love what the maintainer CoMiGo is doing, though. Can't believe there are mere 3 paying subscribers on Boosty. I wanna make the number go up after my paycheck! ;)
