This barn is located near Jefferson #NewHampshire and I always liked the name above the door - Broadacres Farm. It sounded so vast, as if at one time the farm had hundreds of acres to plant and harvest. Now all that is left is this barn...peeling paint on one side that someone has attempted to cover up with an unflattering shade of pink...but there is still a majesty or pride in the old barn. Broadacres Farm is still here. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/broadacres-farm-karen-cook.html#BarnDay#Barn#CountryLife#Farming#Farm
My veggie garden exploded in the last 2 weeks!
After a big rain and a lot of good weather my garden now looks like this haha! Waaaay too crowded but I’ve seen it coming. It’ll be ok for this year 😅
Herding #PekingDucks was hilarious! Bunch of these cute white #ducks gathered below deck & quacked away for awhile(duck strategic planning?). Then happily followed my Mom to pond 😂
life comes full circle
we knew what made us happy
Because it still does!
*As a child animals always brought me joy! I grew up with all of your typical farm buddies. But the some were special. The first thing I did when we got our homestead was find some goats! One of my current babies on the right. Chino.
I found this scene rather interesting as the tumbleweeds were slowly taking over. I showed this photo to my step-father (it’s his family’s farm) and he found it funny that I was so interested in a manure spreader! :)
These are the remains of the old farmhouse on our family farm. The buildings were abandoned in 1944, when the new house and barn further down in the valley were ready.
My uncles and aunt, grandad, and many generations before, were born here. My mom was born in the new house.
There isn't much left of the main house, only the walls. But my uncle (89), who was with us on this Sunday walk, showed us where all the rooms used to be. 😊
How do you do it? Are ALL of these artworks yours?
Here goes! I spend 8 hrs a day working on my art biz. A full-time job! So YES they are all mine. Note that I may list art from 15 years ago. I didn't create everything yesterday...lol
I get a solid 8 hrs sleep.
I spend about 10 minutes on the news and another 50 on TV. 7 hrs are spent socializing/family, eating, garden, exercise, farm/house.
You know it's spring when you start to see the bright yellow fields of rapeseed all over the countryside.
Rapeseed varieties are some of the oldest plants cultivated by humanity for it's oil, with documentation of its use in India 4,000 years ago and use in China and Japan 2,000 years ago.
