I made my final decision to completely drop using Twitter today and moving my #artshare activities to #mastodon. It's not easy for me though; I've joined #Twitter back in 2008 and it was my ONLY #socialmedia for many years - till #Elmo take over and ruining it. Unfortunate.

Our neighbor--a dude that my wife and I refer to as "the Schlemazel"--just bought one of these despite not really being in a financial position to do so.
The bad thing is, I would actually agree with the systemic descriptions and the connotations of #TechnoFeudalism. If you factor in the #TESCREAL dimension of #Elmo and the #PayPalMafia et al, you even gave the medieval "beliefs" dimension. And no-one will argue that if you receive millions of dollars of seed capital, you owe your #liege aka #VC#fealty. And, yes they collect rent, and yes, they either inherited the "rights" or acquired them, charging rent.

It 's long been my opinion, that a mass exodus of #Republican/"#Conservative voters 2 a new up-to-date platform was always the endgame of #Elmo +his #TESCREAL pals and autocratic/authoritarian foreign allies.
As @pluralistic pointed out in a great speech last summer, it is next to impossible to migrate many people to ONE new #SocialMedia platform.
IMO, the only way is to have many endorsements by influencers/celeb accounts AND to have the old platform go out of business. #Xcollapse
While not a very well-known account, I tried the same thing for a couple of weeks, trying to get people to migrate to #Mastodon.
The #Post strategy, as I remember it, was quite different. The wanted a centralized platform earn royalties for professional writers, was my take on the #DeadBirdSite back then.
This is different. OFC #Elmo would block that!--This would have destroyed the value of the #Twitter acquisition--virtually global reach/a...
...quasi monopoly in global reach/ mass influencing possibilities.

I am convinced that this is still ongoing. I was wrong about the timing, though.
Last summer, I wasn't aware that 2024 would be a mega election year around the globe.

I've seen enough. Right now #Texas politics — culture and collegiality, magnitude and intensity of dysfunction — is the worst it's been in decades. More broken than ever. Not impossible but v hard to see how it's put back together

Apart from one person who is not a Dem and should be retired for physical (substance abuse) and mental-health (megalomania) reasons: #Elmo. (He's trying to move #Tesla's HQ from sensible #Delaware to insane #Texas.)
Also: the #ClimateCrisis will make the summer climate unbearable for most seniors, IMO.
