Who has tried calorie tracking apps or sites?

I've tried a few. They're sort of ok for scanning barcodes of single portion packets of processed food.

But incredibly maladapted for cooking from scratch with a lot of different ingredients

Particularly when it's not clear who will be eating how much at what meal of what you make.

And you cook by what needs eating in fridge etc, by handful, pour & dash not meticulous weighing by recipe.

Any good experiences?

So apparently a plate of rigatoni with cheese and red sauce according to the restaurant is like 1600 calories.... how the fuck is a single plate of food literally a full days worth of calories.... how! How is this normal....

I couldn't maintain the intermittent fast today, fluffy coffee goodness got me through breakfast but I cracked and just ate lunch, didn't make it until evening after workout like I planned.

I find it tricky being hungry when I'm having a down day.

Oh well always tomorrow. However I do have a nagging suspicion that maybe intermittent fasting isn't for me, but some days I do ok with it.

Just listened to a great episode of BBC R4’s The Food Programme, all about eating for brain health: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001p6yx BUT the one thing they didn’t mention, among all the focus on how essential omega-3 fatty acids are, is that you don’t need to eat seafood to get them. Fish/shellfish don’t make omega-3s themselves - they get them from their own diet. We can too, via marine algae supplements. So no fish have to be harmed in the name of brain health. #diet #fish

What the hell is going on.... I lost 1.5 lbs (0.7 kg) in literally 10 hours where all I did was sit at my desk all day. I wasnt hot or sweaty, I drank water, I even had a pretty heavy breakfast (eggs cheese spinach, heavily buttered English muffin, and two huge pieces of greasy scrapple).. on top of that i had at least 2 liters of water today and no activity..... how did I loose that much weight in 10 hours.

These drugs they got me on is hitting on another level.

What are folks tips and tricks for managing phe for foods that you don’t know (e.g. restaurant food)? Mine is skipping either lunch exchanges or both lunch and dinner exchanges to ensure I stay in the green…

Maintaining a #diet while traveling is really hard, so next week will be a challenge. Skipping a meal like breakfast each day is probably the easiest way to maintain some control of calorie intake. “Luckily” a lot of hotels don’t include breakfast in the price these days, making it an easier choice.

Just a reminder, if you care about reducing lives lost a diet that includes meat responsibility in the right proportions will result in significantly less lives lost than eating a salad.

Compared to mountain-raised beef eating beef will result in significantly FEWER lives lost than a salad. One salad probably cost quite a few insects and mice their lives to make. A mountain-raised cow is wild grazed, so the land isnt suitable for crops, and no animals other than the cow dies. So one cow makes 3000 meals, thats a much better deal than the multiple deaths per plate you expect from a salad.

I'm finding it kinda difficult today staying hungry until after I work out. Being hungry doesn't have great associations for me. I was already feeling hungry last night when I went to sleep, but I want to avoid eating until after I workout later.

I'm trying to intermittent fast so I can drop some body fat, but still having good energy for workouts is really tough. Heavy weights make me really hungry. #Fitness #Diet #WeightLoss

Hit a new low weight on my diet crossing another double digit mark. Its only a few fractions of a pound below my last low, but still nice to see the double digits roll down.

I cant help but feel my progress is a bit too slow though. Ive lost about 16 lbs in 2 months and i feel the pacing could be much greater.

As some of you know ive been on / / once daily instead of the usual weekly.

I created a log of my historic blood accumulation when i was on once weekly and now that im on a daily adjusted dose. The blue lines show total amount in my blood, red i dicates equivelant weekly dose based on daily dose x7 and yellow is based on expected blood concentration.

As you can see the daily dosing produces much more constant levels. This is based on the typocal 7 day half life.

Watching some videos where they discuss hunger, hyper-palatability from excess sugar/artificial sweeteners, and "if you are thinking about food all the time then you are too lean". I'm weird I guess because while I absolutely love and crave sweets, treats, junk food etc. I also crave lots of veggies, food that people would be considered bland, etc. I also love super spicy food too. Basically, I love food! alright? All foods. Whether I'm at 30% body fat eating massive calorie surpluses for months on end, eating in a calorie deficit to lose body fat, or 18% body fat eating sustained rates, I'm always thinking about food of all kinds. Making new recipes, trying new cuisines, learning about the variety of foods from around the world and eras. Sometimes I think it'd be neat to have a second career as a chef, baker, or food historian. It is why the "not serious" COVID symptom of losing my sense of smell and/or taste is so terrifying to me. Anyway, I'm just thinking out loud and wondering what the statistical distribution of people are on this matter (not assuming it has ever been studied before). #food #fitness #diet

With the effectiveness of GLP-1 medications finally treating the underlying disorder (a GLP disregulation) bariatric surgery (like gastro bypass) looks like the dark ages. Might as well be drilling holes in their head.

I kinda feel bad for the people who were convinced to get it, having a perminantly deformed and broken digestive system and not fixing the underlying hunger issues...
