#AZ#AZwx forecast: " The atmospheric set up
for the latter half of next week also looks to have similarities
to the conditions on July 28, 1995 that led to Phoenix reaching
121 degrees and Yuma hit 124 degrees. ...this should go down as one of the longest, if not the longest duration heat wave this area has ever seen. In fact, both the GEFS and EPS do not show an end to this heat wave as it goes through the entire 360 hour run. "
Heard about the #RegionalRiffs hashtag @Banur started via @HailsandAles's post about it. I'm currently stuck in Arizona, so my pick for here is Gatecreeper. An insanely heavy and great death metal act outta Phoenix - right in my backyard.
This is their album Deserted (get it? From the desert?) Anyway.
Discovered this KILLER local Arizona band the other day called Gemm- they kinda remind me of Hum or Catherine Wheel in that kinda 90s/early 2000s heavy, guitarry super melodic rock way. And the dude's voice is great. Are they shoegazey? Maybe. But not super slow. They're really worth a listen.
I haven't been to #Phoenix much the last few years and I'm still always surprised, and cannot stress how different it is from #Tucson, which is odd for cities less than 2 hours apart.
But then most of the cities in #AZ seem to have a different vibe.
Does anyone else have doctors leave their state, retire, close their practice as soon as you start using them? It happens to us CONSTANTLY here in Arizona for the past few years. Not sure how you're supposed to maintain any sense of continuous care in the USA in 2023.
It's all turning to what we call 'McMedicine' here in Arizona. The visits are BRIEF but we still owe our PCP like, hundreds of dollars that racks up for just regular visits and such (also, the "PCP" is a nurse, that's what they do here- nurses and physician assistants act as PCPs- it's VERY tough to find an actual doctor). Maybe it's a doctor shortage.
I always wonder what it's like in other states in the USA - we have Blue Cross/Blue Shield for insurance, and it's supposedly decent insurance.
Is it Arizona? Do they punish doctors here? Is it aftereffects of COVID? The USA in general and just the end results of a for-profit healthcare system that's obviously set up only for the very wealthy and continues to move in that direction?
This is such an interesting little town, if you are in the area swing through. Those roads are pretty terrifying, there’s a little “ghost town” up there by some mines.
It's #RegionalRiffs time again. An amazing band from here in Arizona (that I really miss- they broke up after their 2017 album) was TWINGIANT. Gnarly, heavy shit. Bass player Jared's rough growl-scream vocals, walls of guitars, doomy, some Motorhead in there too. I saw em twice and we hung out both times too (once with my now wife before we were married!)
Twingiant left us with FOUR amazing albums, starting with Mass Driver in 2012, all linked below. I still have my ratty Twingiant shirt from this era and you're damn right I still wear it.
Disheartening seeing so many cosplay militarized trucks in AZ with trump/anti President Biden messages. Black, lifted w/black US Flag sticker, gun sticker & hate message. Just saw one with vanity AZ plate H8B1DEN. Emailed MVD to ask if H8tRUMP was ok.
To them the US means hate/violence often with cross/christian sticker (cause Jesus preached violence/hate).
I think many Biden supporters don't display for fear of intimidation. Hope it's not like this everywhere?
