Let's get this out of the way: they give a number of #reasons why #webservers "might wish" to establish that a web #client is running on a "#trusted" software stack, including things like "make sure other game players aren't cheating" and "ensure I'm talking to another human".
They go on to say "As new #browsers are introduced, they would need to demonstrate to #attesters (a relatively small group) that they pass the bar [...] #Established browsers would need to only use attesters that respond quickly and #fairly to new browsers' #requests to be #trusted."
If not using a Google-endorsed #browser means #losing#access to all of that, most people are not going to be able to make that choice. They're going to have to use #Chrome, and they'll have to put up with it shoving "#interstitial ads" (aka all-encompassing #TV#commercials in the middle of your attempt to use the service) and a million other ads.
Welp, a horribly topical Rant just kinda fell out of my head and onto my Patreon page, thanks to an email from Draft2Digital I found in my spam folder.....
@grammargirl@LAGilman Dear Author I just want you to know I took the time to read your rant that was boosted by one I respect. And even though I am a #Blind person who loves technology that makes it possible for me to have #Access to books I might not otherwise I stand with you because right is right and wrong is just wrong. I'll be quiet now.
today at work, i got some work done on one of our #microsoft#access databases. our users use this #database to keep track of the accounts we work.
i had to make a form that the user fills out to log activity for a given account, and when they click “submit”, it adds the data to a table, and that data is also displayed on another form along with other information about that account.
i had to limit the amount of characters allowed by this “activity logger” form, and i figured out how to code a character counter that updates as you type. and once you exceed the character limit… it turns red!
y’all here on mastodon are awesome coders, but i’m pretty new at all this, and self-taught. i am over the moon with something as simple as a character counter in microsoft access.
@Onj I love that you add Basic text #Transcript for your audio clips man, I think everybody should do that if they can to help out our #Deaf and #HardOfHearing friends, and anyone else who can't listen to the audio for whatever reason. But Especially #Blind people as we tend to post a lot of #audio and because so many of us push for #AltText
we could stand to spread some of that awareness around.
Thank you for being a good example for others! #Accessibility #A11Y #Access

I love it when people mention the fact that we have an alt4me hashtag, but please, when you talk about it rather than posting an image to it, put the hashtag in quotes without the number sign "alt4me" or say "the alt4me hashtag". Otherwise, people who watch that tag could start ignoring it since at least half the posts there aren't images now. Thank you! And please keep spreading the good news! #ScreenReaders #blind #AltText #ImageDescriptions #accessibility #a11y #access #disability
