Another track made with RADTracker; apart from the lack of undo, it's kind of neat. #OPL3 is definitely growing on me, it is less powerful than #OPN but you can get some really neat sounds out of it! Hard to believe this is the chip that was behind all those quirky and campy DOS / #adlib / sound blaster 16 tunes from back in the day.

From the Genesis / SNES era, one of my favorite beat 'em ups is Comix Zone. For those who never played, it tells the story of a comic book artist who gets pulled into his own comic by it's main villain. He then has to fight from panel to panel to survive. It's cool and has a 16-bit rock inspired soundtrack.

Let's take it back to 1995 when Bone Thugs-N-Harmony sampled the underrated #SegaGenesis fighting game Eternal Champions in their aptly titled track, "Eternal."
👹🔫 Doom for Super Nintendo is a significant technical achievement due to the console's limitations regarding 3D capabilities. It wouldn't have been possible without the use of the additional Super FX 2 chip. Nonetheless, rewriting the game engine was necessary. 👾👽 4 unusual media formats for gaming consoles! 😮 Coleco Telstar Arcade has triangular ROM cartridges 🔺, the Nintendo e-Reader for GBA reads paper cards 💳, the handheld Game.com console from 1997 uses really tiny cartridges 🔬, and for the Atari 2600, there were cartridges with 2 games, each on its own end 🐫.
♊ Unlicensed NES clone (labeled as HK-380) that emerged in markets where it was difficult to obtain original consoles or where they were too expensive. Because it contains a copy of all the hardware, you can play real NES games on it, often with pirated multicarts.
🏝️🐟 Nintendo marketed the Game & Watch portable games, which were succeeded by the Game Boy, from 1980 to 1991. There were 59 different games available, and the "Tropical Fish" (model TF-104) shown in the picture was released in 1985.
✏️📺 In our museum collection, we have a unique gaming console called the Vectrex, which comes with its own built-in TV screen. Its distinctive feature, as evident from its name, is vector graphics (made up of lines) instead of raster graphics (like pixels on the screen) - giving its games a unique look and very smooth animations.

🔢🕹️ The Schmid TVG 2000 is a German clone of the second-generation Emerson Arcadia 2001 console from 1982. It is powered by an 8-bit Signetics 2650A processor running at 3.58 MHz, which addresses 1 KB of memory. The screen has a resolution of 128x104/208 and supports 8 colors.
🔴🟢🔵 The Sega Game Gear was the color rival to the Game Boy. Many first encountered it with Sonic the Hedgehog 💙🦔
💡 Reasons for its defeat against a technologically weaker rival include its higher price and the fact that it consumed 6 AA batteries in less than 5 hours, partly due to its fluorescent backlight, which can now be solved by converting to LED lighting.
🎾🏓 The Gorenje Elrad International Geti 3220 (~1980) is a representative of the first generation of Slovenian gaming consoles. It offers a selection of classic "pong" games, including squash, pelota, tennis, hockey, and two shooting games. The selection isn't a coincidence, as the console is powered by the popular General Instrument AY-3-8500 chip of that time.
🤏👁️ The Milton Bradley Microvision is the first handheld game console with cartridge-based games from 1979. It has some interesting technological features:
🧠 The console contains only a screen and buttons; the processor is part of the game cartridges.
🔬 The screen has a resolution of 16x16 pixels, which is as small as the tiniest icons on modern computers.
😭 Unfortunately, the screen is not as durable as more modern LCDs, so most Microvision consoles today are non-functional.

I like video games, mostly indie and Nintendo ones (e.g. osu!, Touhou, TLoZ, Metroid, Celeste, Crypt of the NecroDancer etc), and I also stream them. ^^
I also listen to a lot of video game music and their covers, and I can talk about languages, though I almost never post about either for some reason.
