Android custom ROMs are funny because any other self-respecting FOSS OS at least makes a good effort attempt at letting you upgrade between versions, but custom ROM authors generally just tell you to wipe your device every time you update, or straight up brick it by Idk, changing the FDE algorithm the OS supports without a warning

@lunareclipse Android ROM scene doesn't have foss culture in the slightest tbh, it's more like windows xp mods. There are exceptions, but few and far between

Are there any good instance for allies? A friend of mine is considering joining fedi but seems kinda lost in the variety of instances, and well I mostly know the queer ones for some reason

So, CSS variable support has landed in GTK, and libadwaita now uses it. Note that it's super basic for now, it's just replacements for the old @colors. There will be more drastic changes in 2.0, but for now I need to keep backwards compatibility.

So, apps can now override them per widget, like on the screenshot (well, once the sdk updates, anyway)

And because why not, there are a few changes that variables enabled:

.error, .warning and .success style classes now also change the accent color respectively. For example, this means that a selectable label with .error style class will have a red selection as well, instead of blue.

The .opaque style class for buttons has been deprecated - instead, apps can simply use .suggested-action and override the accent color on it (or add .error/.warning/.success - that works too). This will also change the focus ring, and similarly, .destructive-action buttons have red focus rings now.

Apps are encouraged to migrate, but the old colors will keep working until 2.0. For example, @accent_color can be replaced with var(--accent-color) and so on, note the dashes in the names instead of underscores. Implemented covers.

Only local covers atm, like in the old app:

  • A file with the same name as the ROM but with a different extension
  • cover.png/etc
  • folder.png/etc

Additionally, it's possible to override them from properties, similarly to custom icons in Nautilus.

Covers are also picked up for games not in the library. In this case, importing them copies the cover as well.

Also implemented a search provider.

Same as in the old app, sometimes it just fails to anything the first time you use it, but is fine afterwards. Not sure why. Otherwise it works.
