While I'm gathering more data on , let's talk about some of the simple animated ones.

Our first three are the most common type that wasn't made intentionally as an animation by the original creators. Blink, mlem, and talk all alternate between two existing emoji. The only difference is which eyes are used for blink and which mouth is used for the other two. These should be pretty easy to make using Ezgif if you grab a pair of them or use the neomoji maker. Blink uses 35 frame closed, 350 open, then 35 more closed on an infinite loop. The other two alternate between 10 frames with a closed mouth and 10 frames doing a thing.

Pacifier is similar to those but instead of alternating between existing emoji, it uses a single emoji but has an object placed on top of it that alternates between and up and a down state every 25 frames. I'd have to ask @Erpel whether he tried different durations or considered scaling instead of moving when he was fiddling with making them.

If you want to play around with the second kind of animation, I'd encourage you to look into neopossum and neobread because they are both available as SVGs which makes them easier to work with.

Neofox rolling is included because it's the most elaborate one that I've seen which wasn't made with a generator. It rotates 45 degrees between frames and swaps to a different face for a couple of them.

The next four are neofox_bongo which alternate between neofox_bongo_up and neofox_bongo_down. The normal one alternates every 10 frames. That gets sped up to 8 frames for _fast, 5 frames for _faster, and 3 frames for _hyper.

I wanted to share these animations to offer encouragement to others who want to contribute but might not be the most artistically inclined. I've been struggling to fiddle with some of these neomoji in even simple ways because art isn't exactly something I do much of. But even if you struggle to recolor images in Inkscape, between the neomoji mixer and ezgif, you can still contribute something and have decent chances of people enjoying it.

The left one is notable because it predates the neomoji mixer. There are a bunch of flag_*_kisser neomoji that people made by hand before the tool to easily make them existed.

The second is interesting because it is one of very few solid color replacements that I've seen gain traction. Also :neocat_floof_kisser_*_sillycat: absolutely wrecks my existing regex to find stuff ​:neopossum_sob_sad_laptop:​

I have just learned that the canonical name of ​:neocat_arms_and_legs:​ is neocat_arms_and_legs: not :neocat_final_form:. The name and alias have been swapped while I quietly weep.

I've roughly doubled the number of sites I'm indexing in my quest to find interesting #neomoji. The new second place for instance with the most unique ones is mk.absturztau.be

Congrats to @puniko for keeping up with the slew of requests to get new emoji added!

It looks like absturztau has embraced the neomojimixer most heartily, as measured by how many emoji from there are already available. But don't think that means it's a low effort server, it's also the home of the biblically accurate neocat, a symmetrical neocat, and a ton of variants of drgn--which rarely gets attention. There's also an extension of scream that expands it to 40 something open mouth parts for monstrosities beyond imagination.

I'm trying to figure out what you'd need to do to add metadata to a PNG file when you only have access to a base64 encoded version of it.

Would you just split it 12 bytes from the end (the length of the IEND chunk), make a new iTXt chunk, base64 encode that, add that where IEND used to be, then add IEND after that?

I need help. A couple days ago a mystery #sound started coming from my kitchen and it's driving us all nuts. According to a spectrogram it's at 4,086 Hz. It hasn't stopped for days. It's clearly the kitchen because enough walls or distance block it. We've tried unplugging all the appliances we get to to no avail.

Though, it's possible that these are incorrect because I'm reading the static_url field from the custom_emojis json file on the server and that is apparently handled a bit differently depending on server software?

I'm mostly enjoying #SteinsGate. The big exception is that I hate the relationship between Mayuri and Rintaro. It's supposed to be childhood friends or something like that but he patronizes her like she's somewhere between a kindergartener and a puppy. And everyone is 100% okay with it. They even do some stuff to indicate there might be a romantic element to it?

I'm not ruling out that I'm supposed to hate it because it shows Rintaro is an immature ass. Characters change in this show. Mayuri is also clearly hiding how competent she is to play a role in his life for messed up reasons. Still gives me the squick.
