After 2 years of having this Mac, I discovered today (from a Mac-owning colleague) that the top right button is for fingerprint ID. I could have been logging in with my thumb this WHOLE TIME!
"Simple Scan is entering a crowded scanning market. Many scanning utilities also help you organize your scans, store them in the cloud, submit expense reports, and more. There are people who need that sort of extended feature set, but somewhere along the way, people with simpler needs have been forgotten."
It's 2024. If you're still designing websites or email like you would design an 8.5x11" promotional hand-out on a sheet of paper, you really haven't been paying attention to how people use the internet over the past decade.
Today I learned you can drag an app from the ‘Side Dock' in Stage Manager, which will give you 2 apps side by side. You can also drag an app via it's title bar back into the 'Side Dock' to return it. Noticed this is MacOS Ventura... about to upgrade to Sonoma. #macOS#techtips
If, like me, you find yourself using apps that have a reputation for being a bit invasive (yes, TikTok, I'm looking at you!), here's a nifty trick to help protect your personal space even while you indulge in some entertaining content.
Consider installing these privacy-invading apps inside Android's "Work Profile." 📱 What's that, you ask? It's like having a secret sandbox where these apps can play, away from your personal data and sensitive information.
How to do it? Well, there's a cool open-source app called "Shelter" that can help you set up this sandboxed environment. It's like giving these apps their own little world to roam in, while your personal stuff stays safe and sound.
So, why not give it a whirl? Your privacy deserves a little extra love, and Shelter's got your back. 🛡️
Book player is by far, the best media app out there for the iPhone. It's ease of use is awesome, the the ability to combine books into volumes for non-stop playing is the top reason to have it, in my opinion. That said, I wanted to share this little tech tip for those like me, who have lots of stuff in Dropbox, and want to import into book player. This tip is for when you want to import just a handfull of files, rather than the entire folder. Also, I assume that you already know how to use VO on your device, so when I use the term "Tap", you can translate it. First, go to the folder in question. Tap the "Select" button, located just to the left of the "more actions" button at the top right of the screen. Next, tap all the files that you want to select in your folder. Next, in the bottom right corner of the screen, locate "Export", and tap it. A standard share sheet will pop up. Select "Bookplayer", and follow the standard procedure for importing. #TechTips
Linux Tech Tips was accused of having a toxic work place where several past employees supported 1 employee who experienced sexual harassment. In your last video, you acknowledged this fact, said you were looking into it, and now in your update "plan" you do not acknowledge it or apologize. Worse, you double-down on how great you believe your HR Department is. Clearly, that is not the case.
I've never worked for Linus Tech Tips, and have only ever been a viewer & worked for a sponsor (NDA, no comment), but I am disgusted
I am not going to watch Linus Tech Tips anymore. All they ever do is double-down, triple-down, and push out PR statements of so-called change, while doubling-down
I wanted to see LTT to make this right. I wanted to see them prove they can be successful. They have not done this
Sexual harassment swept under the rug is bad business
I have nothing else to say... I am truly, genuinely disgusted.
I feel sorry for Former Linus Tech Tips social media manager Madison Reeve. My heart goes out to her. I know what it is like to have previously experienced a toxic work place. I doubt she will ever receive that apology or official recognition. Companies like this never see the wrongs they do not wish to see.
I thank her past co-workers who came forward to support her and did acknowledge Madison Reeve.
I am a straight man, born man, who has always identified as male (biologically, mentally, and emotionally), who likes women, but that does not mean I need to be a woman or a member of the LGBTQ+ community to want people to have equality, including equal rights and treatment and opportunities too.
It is called being a human being. Something does not need to directly impact me or affect me, for me to have empathy, sympathy, and compassion toward others.
@rail Colin Worobetz, former writer at Linus Media Group, has also chimed in regarding Madison Reeve’s allegations, claiming the following on his Reddit account.
“…the story as she’s told it in the posts today is as I remember it back then.”
@joel@error420@rail However, I would suggest you review Forbes Magazine which current has a headline about this and more concerning, Linus Tech Tips, titled:
"YouTube Channel Linus Tech Tips’ Inaccuracies And Sexual Harassment Allegations, Explained"
