Been using Spotify since 2006, but now that I have been using Apple Music for a couple of months I think there is no going back. What I love in Pandora and Apple Music is that I can just play my own Station that plays songs endlessly. Most of the time I don't know what to listen, I like to shuffle everything I might like without much thought.
Spotify concentrates on playlists and as a hard core music fanatic those playlists get easily worn out.
Apple Music and Pandora focus on finding new music and shuffling without limits. In Spotify you always have to have Playlist.

I’ve started with #AppleMusic as I had a 2-month free trial, but the Windows app is trash. It keeps telling me playback has stopped on another device. It wasn’t playing on another device in the first place. Also songs just randomly stops playing or starts from the beginning again. 🤦♂️

These artists don't even get paid that much money, and yet Spotify wants to cut off their revenue.
I'm done with Spotify. In fact, I think I'm flat-out done with music streaming services. All of them are exploitative. back to buying digital albums for me.

I switched to Deezer. There are many other choices: Apple, Amazon, Tidal, Qobuz and others. If you are the type to abandon Twitter because of Musk, why pay Spotify to make Joe Rogan wealthy and the world less informed?

You see, my issue with music is that I consume it in LARGE quantities. And I was very happy with Grooveshark. Nothing has just yet come close to Grooveshark's recommendation algorithm. You could give it 3 songs and it would find you a neverneding list of stuff that went with it without being identical.
Spotify is the closest to that functionality but it just...doesn't get there. It has a tendency to direct you towards commercial stuff instead of what you actually want.
BANDCAMP is the closest to what I would morally like, pay the artist directly and get music but it doesn't have any Grooveshark-like recommendation algorithm just yet.
I wish they were there because Bandcamp is also the place with the highest quality of sound and my ears do indeed notice the difference.
EDIT: Also the #fediverse and the discovery of for-not-profit stuff that actually WORKS is making me rethink all of my service provider choices.
A link doing the rounds, trying to petition #Spotify to take ownership of the #Flatpak package for #Linux. In my opinion, they really shouldn't have used the "2 million downloads" number, because the vast majority of those are delta updates from the same people who already have it installed. There's ~110K machines with the Spotify Flatpak installed. They should have used that number, as it's more genuine. I've been with #Spotify for 10 years, but I'm now considering switching to #Tidal. I don't like the way Spotify is going: shifting focus to podcasts, paying shit to musicians... I'd rather see my money go to them than to Rogan.
But it's not just about me, I have my whole family on our family plan. I have to be sure about it and convince them. If you have made the switch, what had been your experience?
