Europe has seen an increasing trend of far-right parties surging in popularity.
In Castilla y León, the region far-right party Vox boasted would be a "model", it lost five of the six deputies it had. In the rest of Spain the party lost 600,000 votes, and dropped from 52 seats to 33 in the national parliament.
These results broke with Vox's expectations, and with the electoral line set by most EU Member States.

Spain is battling a historic drought after recording its driest and hottest April on record last month. The country's water reservoirs have dropped to below 50 percent of capacity, while levels have slumped to around 25 percent in the worst-hit regions of Andalusia and Catalonia.
