"Most of the belongings, such as clothing, makeup and blankets, could be replaced in time. But she panicked when she realized that her dentures, acquired after months of dental appointments, were also gone."
#Albuquerque Is Throwing Out the Belongings of #Homeless People, Violating City Policy
The city has violated a court order and its own policies by discarding the personal property of thousands of homeless people, who have lost medications, birth certificates, IDs, treasured family photos and the ashes of loved ones.
El Malpais National Monument | The jagged, desolate landscape is a volcanologist’s playground. A million years of volcanic activity sculpted the landscape. Numerous volcanoes and lava flows generated the field. The most recent volcanic activity was about 800 years ago.
“I'm thrilled to be working in New Mexico again,
Story-wise, this new show could have been set anywhere in the United States. However, I keep returning to the Land of Enchantment for the beautifully cinematic landscape and to continue working with the best crew ever. They've been making me look good for seventeen years now, and I figure, ‘why fix it if it ain't broke?’”

While not peak time, still beautiful #aurora here in #NewMexico, with a star-filled sky and virtually no light pollution. Thanks to those here on #mastodon who urged everybody to get outside and take photos of the #AuroraBorealis.

And, now that I live in #NewMexico, I have a more personal reason to want to see the Arizona legislature flipped blue. I’d love for Arizona to join New Mexico as a hub of democracy and progressivism in the U.S. southwest. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to join in.
Tribes have long been among the staunchest advocates of wildlife crossings. But grant funding stipulations, as well as some state agencies like the #NewMexico Dept. of Transportation, can work against them.
Nevertheless, tribes like the Stillaguamish, the Upper Skagit, the Santa Ana Pueblo, the Burns Paiute, and the Salish and Kootenai are taking the lead on connecting habitat and reducing the harms of American highways and interstates.

Last week was a whirlwind of wandering in southern New Mexico, from Silver City to Alamogordo. The weather was very cooperative, with relatively low wind until the day I drove home. The snap happy week continued at Gathering of Nations of Friday.

If you need a break from terrible news, check out this interview I did with Nizhonniya Austin, aka Cara from 'The Curse,' one of the most interesting characters in one of TV's most interesting shows, a contemporary Native artist who's morally complicated, and according to Austin, not particularly likeable.
Austin is a real life contemporary Native artist, and she told me about how some artists use identity to advance their careers.
