"Most of the belongings, such as clothing, makeup and blankets, could be replaced in time. But she panicked when she realized that her dentures, acquired after months of dental appointments, were also gone."
#Albuquerque Is Throwing Out the Belongings of #Homeless People, Violating City Policy
The city has violated a court order and its own policies by discarding the personal property of thousands of homeless people, who have lost medications, birth certificates, IDs, treasured family photos and the ashes of loved ones.
Two of our city councilors in #Albuquerque are pushing a policy change that would demean and target immigrant workers & families instead of addressing root challenges in our city...
This is part of a larger push from political opportunists and MGA Re.publi.cans aligned with hard-right media & influencers... I also know it is bubbling up in many cities/towns, and it needs to be addressed head-on.
I’m in #albuquerque for a few days and really appreciate their free #bus service. Yeah, you can take the bus for free. Planned to take #publictransport anyway, but the zero cost is fantastic.

Tonight I'm eating at The 377 Brewery in #Albuquerque#NewMexico and have acquired a burrito with some green chili. It's decent but a departure from much of the other New Mexican food I've had this week.
Tonight I ate at KūKri at the 505 Central Food Hall in downtown #Albuquerque#NewMexico and it was outstanding. The green chili fries were pretty spicy and I loved it. If I were to eat there again I would move up from medium to spicy.
I went to Little Anita's New Mexican Food tonight for dinner. It was excellent. The sopapillas in particular were marvelous. The green chili was a little on the not spicy enough side of things for me but it had a lot of good flavor.
I've only been here a few months but I've noticed that even non-birders get very excited about the #sandhill#cranes migrating though #Albuquerque every year. Yesterday was my first time seeing them and... I knew I'd be delighted by them but they were even better than I expected. They're so big! There were so many of them!
With the few hours I have to kill between meetings this week I'll go check out the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, and maybe the AT&SF 292 locomotive. Anything else I should see?
