The decision is subtle in places and not as clearly written as it might be, but reasoning is sound, vindicating positions argued by #FaniWillis and skillfully grappling with complexities created by #RICO statute. My effort to illuminate, thread. 1/ #LawFedi
Happening today: At 9 am ET, a panel of judges on the 11th Cir. Court of Appeals will hear oral argument on #MarkMeadows’s efforts to remove his #Fulton County criminal charges to federal court.
You can listen to oral argument via livestream. #Georgia#legal
Note that #JeffreyClark, like #MarkMeadows, is claiming he should not have to surrender for arrest in #FultonCounty. Clark is a disgrace to the legal profession. He has a real chance to be U.S. Attorney General if Trump is returned to the White House. Beyond sickening.
I’ve been explaining a lot here in the past couple of days. Should I hold back on explaining the court’s reasoning and my sense of how it will fare if Meadows appeals? I don’t want to hog the feeds.
BREAKING: 11th Circuit rejects #MarkMeadows' request to reconsider whether his #Georgia election subversion charges can be moved to federal court. A three-judge panel on the circuit and a lower court ruled his case must stay in state court. #legal
PS: This is a story about #publishing#ethics. The pub knew or should have known that Meadows lied in the book, and it planned to profit from those lies. Now it's saying it only wanted to publish sincere lies.
The chances of #Jan6#insurrection#republicans flipping in the #rico indictments just went through the roof. My estimate is over 1000% now that the State Trials in #georgia will be scheduled live on national TV.
None of these traitors will have their indictments moved to #federal jurisdiction.
Republicans in congress will attempt to distract or cancel the TV coverage of the Georgia indictments with #impeachment of #potus
Fmr #Trump#WH aide #CassidyHutchinson, through her atty, responded Fri to a #HouseRepublicans' top #impeachment#witness, #TonyBobulinski, claiming in a letter 1st obtained by ABCNews that comments he made in his recent interview w/the #House Oversight Cmte were "defamatory," w/her atty providing a photo of an alleged encounter between Bobulinski & fmr WH chief of Staff #MarkMeadows that refutes Bobulinski's claims about the incident.
A complete report of #MarkMeadows testimony isn’t out yet, but from what I can gather he’s making the case that he was basically just a timekeeper and secretararial assistant to Trump. Oh, brother!
'Former President Donald Trump's final chief of staff in the White House, Mark Meadows, has spoken with special counsel Jack Smith's team at least three times this year, including once before a federal grand jury, which came only after Smith granted Meadows immunity to testify under oath, according to sources familiar with the matter.'
