In preparation for tomorrow's public #TestFlight of Browser Actions for #macOS, I've added the list of currently available new Shortcuts actions to its website.
✅ add support for filtering to "Get Browser Windows” & "Get Browser Tabs” actions
✅ add support for naming #Safari windows
✅ add action for bringing a page element into view
The bit that I really dislike in #firefox & its forks is its control + f menu, it takes up too much of the screen and its so messy compared to chromium-based browsers
Time to head into alternate realities in today's Drop as we take a look at a blazing fast and safety-conscious #Chromium port, a data-centric #shell that I'm embarrassed to not have covered already, and a nascent #javascript shell that cld use some community 💙.
#BraveBrowser is installing VPNs without users' consent, even if you didn't willingly enable their #VPN service. Just stop using #Brave, it's garbage.
Edit: the services are disabled by default, but they were still installed with very little to no transparency about them towards the user, alongside all the other stuff that's often unwanted from Brave users (Pocket on Firefox is to blame too, lol.)
I really can't understand what #Firefox is doing for 9 minutes on cold boot while reading/writing 12 MB/s to disk
This is insanity, this is so beyond terrible
Yeah, #Chromium browsers can too take some time to launch for the first time after not being used for quite some time, but not 9 MINUTES, maximum a minute-two
Chromium 118 (also ungoogled) is a security update
I uploaded new 64bit packages for Chromium 118.0.5993.70 (also the un-googled variant) for which the sources were released a few days ago. This first release in the 118 series addresses a critical vulnerability (CVE-2023-5218) so it's wise to upgrade.
As mentioned in a previous blog post,
> For the projects that are underway already that are making use of Rust libraries, we are happy to say toolchain support is no longer an obstacle to shipping. Chrome M117 has a Rust library in Stable that is being used daily on Android, Mac, Windows, and Linux. And Chrome M119 Beta has the same on ChromeOS.
Genialne!
