This class punk anthem reminds me of the initial appeal I found in punk rock and underground music in general. Savage mockery of the worst parts of popular American culture, as it was at the time anyway.

@Whiskeyomega That’s always been true of the higher quality jackets. But with the dual-pocket VSS sleeves, I never have the LPs in them…they’re entirely separate, in their own pocket.
@dnanian Im looking forward to hearing the INXS - Kick pressing their doing as I have an original on 1x33 and ive had the Abbey road half master on 2x45 and they sounded the same.
There’s something immensely satisfying about dropping a needle on a vinyl record and hearing that initial warm hum and crackle that somehow draws you in for the music that’s about to start. It’s immersive, and I’ve been missing that.

I'd love to see some of your albums. I'm sure there's some good stuff found via your role at a distributor (I worked at an independent record store in the late 80s - early 90s, did a lot of buying used and ordering imports for myself lol)
Yeah, my wife was a big collector for years. I had no money ever until the late 80s early 90s, and then I worked at a distributor. So there's a short period that we have tons of stuff from and then nothing as we moved into new jobs.
Tonight's show is the best of my friend Jay's records. He gave them to me three years ago, when he thought he was dying from cancer, asking that I play them on the radio so he could hear them again and I did nine shows worth at the time. He beat the cancer, but died this week from Covid.

This one has a nice variety of musical styles. It's #3 in a series from Placebo spotlighting the Phoenix Scene (e.g. "This Is Phoenix, Not The Circle Jerks" and "Amuck").
There's a white paper insert with some Placebo Records and their respective prices listed. It's an order form you'd mail in.
Ambition can consume a band, and this sprawling, beautiful pop masterpiece ate Tears for Fears (along with four years, four producers, numerous sidemen [including Phil Collins and Pino Palladino] and a lot of money).
It’d be 15 years before Orzabal and Smith would work together again (on the great Everybody Loves a Happy Ending), so no doubt the process was painful.
