I've had so many issues with my Anycubic resin 3d printer, and for this and other reasons, have been considering an FDM/filament printer.

Is it fair to say that most printers in the $150-300 range are crap? I just saw on one of her LED necklace tutorials that @geekmomprojects uses the Prusa MINI+, and it seems like a good number of makers speak highly of that brand, so maybe that's where I'll look. But any tips on where else to look/stay away from are appreciated!

I live for learning/tinkering but with all of my learning/tinkering time tied up in other projects, I think I'm willing to pay a bit more for 'turnkey', so long as it's an easy machine to maintain/repair. Thank you again

One organic trend I liked from the other site was #followfriday . I'm going to sporadically do this here. Today, calling your attention to the following heavies:

@moldybasil : razor sharp biologist, transit advocate, and likely revolutionist.

@random_industries : As kLIMEK, this man has produced lots of music that is so beautiful that I've literally been brought to tears.

@MLE_online A DIY hero. Routinely finds some crap around town and makes something awesome with it.

Is the Hachyderm instance blocked/muted by many other instances. Twice in a week I've run across mentions of it. I was happily working on the theory it was pretty well managed and moderated so that it's unlikely it was widely accessable.

Got to introduce some adventurous foodie children to some dishes that I cook regularly. When a 12 year old says ‘I’ve literally never tasted these flavors before’ and ‘I want to eat all your food’ I think that’s high praise!!

@kellogh I often wonder this as well. It's so easy to make a website and/or blog nowadays, and if monetization is a goal, there's adsense, paid subscriptions, etc. Presumably ease-of-use and network reach are the main selling point with Medium, but I just can't see how it's worth sacrificing self-hosting.

After a week without a working phone, and apparently 2 more weeks before my new phone ships, I'm now using an old Pixel 3a my father upgraded off of a few years back. Sure it's incredibly out of date, but I forgot just how good a small phone feels in the hand

@TomLarrow The Pixel 3a is nearly too big for me, with the Otterbox case I have.

It's surprising to me that there are so few offerings at that size, or smaller. Like, who wants a phone that can't fit in their pocket?
