Yes, we really could set up better ventilation in public spaces. It CAN be done.

A while back I was researching early century architecture - turn of the century up to the first quarter of the 1900s. I was struck by how they went on and on about "good ventilation" and how much they prized "airy" buildings, and talked about how wonderful and sanitary "airy" buildings were. I didn't know why they went on and on about this, back then.

We now know why - and we can do it again.

My grandmother worked in a hospital in the late 20s and early 30s, and she talked this way also about ventilation and how the goal of buildings was to be "airy" and with a breeze. And good ventilation was always the central goal, in order to be healthy. I didn't realize the significance back then.

Again, we now know why.

Because that's the only preventative they had, and the only treatment, and the only way to prevent the spread of illnesses that they had.

My buddy proudly wore this shirt to his very macho workplace and there was a lot of uncomfortable laughter and teasing, but within two weeks they had installed upgraded all new HVAC with MERV 13 filtration!

Hey conference-goers!

My workmate is presenting at a conference tomorrow. They got sick & tested C19 positive a couple days ago, but now they are starting to feel a "bit better" & the line is "pretty faint".

Be aware!

Conferences & flights are very expensive & many people won't cancel for what they feel is a "cold".

Conferences should not be happening now because individuals do things like this. There need to be remote options for all conferences & required workplace environments. I don't know specifics on this one.

Conference goers & conference organizers need to be aware that people do things like this. Covid is a level 3 biohazard, it is not a "cold".

In my own post I can go in and edit the alt description, and copy that. Is there some way to copy alt text on another person's post?

@NatureMC If there's a meme here that's widely available & shared it's not copyright infringement. That's the purpose of memes, they are for sharing. This way I can share them on other platforms & still be as accessible as possible. I'm low vision & I'd like things I share to have ALT text if possible, so that more people can enjoy them.
