So I've listened to @LateNightLinux Christmas special episode, where the hosts were asked "how to make the internet better?". I fully agree with the views presented there. Decentralization, federation, selfhosting are the ways to make the internet better, go back to the pre-capitalist times before monopolies. One thing that I feel was not mentioned is finding a way to tackle CGNAT and other obstacles in self hosting. 1/x

This one took weeks to write. It's about me finding a way to significantly reduce the power consumption of a Raspberry Pi Pico W working as a weather station, collecting environmental data.

I am also writing about powering the Pico using solar panels, and this time it's a success, my weather station can now run indefinitely, powered by the sun!

Exactly four years ago I took my first #astrophotography. Without star tracking, guiding, just a DSLR on a tripod, an old Russian lens, and a lot of very short exposures.

The photo shows the Orion constellation, the famous belt and the Orion Nebula below it. The first image is how I processed it then, the second one is processed recently, with new tools such as Graxpert and BlurExterminator.

It's a bit janky right now, but it works. Here's an automatically generated page with a list of the RSS feeds that I follow with FreshRSS. With a bit of bash and Python I'm exporting the list of feeds and pushing it into an HTML file on my server. Should get updated every day.

Today I tried adding reactions to a blog in the simplest possible way (simplest for me, a backend developer). And so in an hour I created a POC, and it seems to work. There is no JS whatsoever, just #Python and Django.

Now I just need to work on deployment, embedding, and abuse protection, but hey, the POC works 😅
