Wind gusts up to 93km/h here, apparently. But this house is VERY exposed. I’ve been in 160km/h winds before and it wasn’t as concerning as this.

The whole house is shaking, from the floor up, and it sounds like roofing iron is flexing and bending.

Not Relaxing At All.

(I’ve been up on the roof recently and checked everything & all looks ok, but still)

    So I usually use Sublime Text but this evening I tried opening a folder full of source code in VS Code. It put up a baffling question whether I "trust" the files in the folder. That's a reasonable question for some types of IDE projects, but all I did was open a folder. I trust the code in the directory, but VSCode said it was potentially going to execute files in the folder (?? what? Why?) so I said "don't trust".

    This disabled the extension that does syntax highlighting for Verilog.

    Regarding “back to the office”: Why is the commute the employee’s burden anyway? Make it part of the work time and have at it requiring people to come to the office. Three hours commute? You get 5 hours in the office.

    Employees are available immediately at home but if they’ve required in the office, the clock starts when they leave home. You rent their time, your choice to spend it on travel.

    Why doesn't Apple make a TV? They would own that space. Half the people I know would happily buy one, if it meant no spyware, user choice, and never buying another "smart" TV again. Even if the cost was 2x normal smart tv.

    @briankrebs This, a thousand times yes.

    I have a (free) "smart" TV. I leave the plug out of the wall when I'm not using it. I do NOT trust it (eg embedded low power always on listening devices). And no way in hell is it ever getting wifi access. I plug usb sticks & my game console into it, that's it.

    And in preference, I'd happily pay more for a dumb tv with none of that spyware crap.

    @bohemianchic Sounds trivial, but a lot of work but! Actually effective: Find the roots of each thought, pattern, and systematically heal them all. Admittedly, tedious as hell, but it gets the job done. And, long term, a lot less tedious than having to deal with that bullshit forever.

    Even people without covid, there are some VERY nasty cold/flus going around (as usual). Why the hell would anyone want any of them?

    Makes my head spin when people ignore all the obvious OTHER reasons to wear a mask, besides covid.
