A Google contractor used admin privileges to access Nintendo's YouTube page and leaked the existence of Yoshi's Crafted World before Nintendo could announce it
I ask this relatively regularly because I want to keep an eye on the landscape.
I'm a software engineer with a PhD in international criminal law. I am on the lookout for (open source?) projects that are useful to human rights researchers/activists/defenders. I am hoping to contribute as a volunteer software engineer.
If you know of a project like this, please get in touch. If you don't, please boost if you'd like!
@hgrsd#Autonomi is a stand out project, which has stuck to a set of democratising values, rejecting easy choices (such as VC funding) and taking the hard road for eighteen years.
It is now approaching launch and will be an opportunity to create a new generation of privacy and user centred apps. It levels the development playing field to give even individuals the chance to scale world-wide and take on the big centralised platforms without VC funding.
“The percentage of Russian battlefield weaponry with #US or allied branded components is alarmingly and unacceptably high,” Daleep #Singh, the deputy national security adviser for international economics, said Tuesday. “Put your creativity and resources to work, know your customers, know their customers, and know the end users. Ensure that American firms are not unwitting cogs in Russia’s arsenal of autocracy.”
Good news for folks who enjoy AI embarrassing itself with nonsensical answers!
"Well, according to an interview at The Verge with Google CEO Sundar Pichai published earlier this week, just before criticism of the outputs really took off, these "hallucinations" are an "inherent feature" of AI large language models (LLM), which is what drives AI Overviews, and this feature "is still an unsolved problem.""
@Free_Press Joe #Biden is happy to let #Israel use it's weapons on a civilian population, and to defend these criminal actions against the #ICC but won't allow #Ukraine to use its weapons against military targets against an invader of its sovereign territory.
For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.
From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."
Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.
'Maigret' is on Kanopy, two free episodes. I watched the first last evening. Rowan Atkinson doesn't have many lines so he has to use his face for acting purposes. Pretty good, all in all. My dad loved Simenon's books. Now I'll hunt for a couple and try them out. #tv#maigret#mystery
@rivets
The 90's series is French with Bruno Cremer. He's superb and I'm watching the series free to air on #TalkingPicturesTV (in UK). I never miss it. They have some real gems and this is one, far better than Rowan Atkinson.
While waiting I've just seen a young Brian Cox in Manhunt (1970) which was a treat.
I don't remember how good the eighties BBC series was but I probably wouldn't have liked it at the time.
