hiramfromthechi, to marketing

What do you think of when you hear the term "ethical marketing"?

Is it important to you that the companies you buy from operate ethically?

hiramfromthechi,

@Rana Good thoughts/questions. Everything comes at a cost, and everyone has opinions about how something should be conducted.

That's ethics at it's core—competing conceptions of the good, constructed by our own morals, biases, and ethics.

"Perfect" doesn't exist, and it's impossible to please everyone, so it's a constant balance of tradeoffs. Everyone's gonna value something different. 💭

@AAKL @itnewsbot It seems to be abundantly clear that these LLMs have been trained on proprietary, stolen, and/or copyrighted data...

    hiramfromthechi,

@AAKL @itnewsbot Yet another black box that affects us all 🤧👎

    hiramfromthechi,

@AAKL @itnewsbot Well-said. It's not dead, but it's also wildly difficult and unsustainable to track and manage.

At its core, due to outdated and continuously-lagging legislation—especially in the US.

    hiramfromthechi, to internet

The dead Internet theory is an online conspiracy theory that asserts that the Internet now consists mainly of bot activity and automatically generated content that is manipulated by algorithmic curation, marginalizing organic human activity.

Proponents of the theory believe these bots are created intentionally to help manipulate algorithms and boost search results in order to ultimately manipulate consumers.

There's only a handful of people who could enter a presidential race at the very last moment, and still win it. This is one of those people.

    hiramfromthechi,

@meejah true, and given their whole cryptocurrency mining fiasco, it's safe to say they've lost a lotta the trust they had built with the privacy and security communities.

What song you got on repeat right now?

I’ll start: KXNG Crooked - Order 66 (Musar)

If you’re into lyrics, syllables, cadences, and wordplay, this song is for you.

@AdamBishop Crazy how the biggest repository of open source software is not open source and moving against open source principles...

One year #anniversary since I signed up for #Mastodon! :mastodon: 🎉

Been trying my best to convince mutuals to try it out to varying success (or failure). But even without moving I've found many new individuals, especially passionate developers and scientists.

I've also learned to rely less on the fragility of corporate solutions. One of the biggest takeaway for me is probably realizing the concept and pattern of #enshittification of all public companies.

To many more years on the #fediverse!

    hiramfromthechi,

@cragsand once you start noticing those patterns and recognizing them across platforms, you never wanna go through it again

Minimizing (as much as possible) my digital footprint to all nasty services. I and myself (I had forgotten how many accounts I was using) and I feel good! Thank you @Em0nM4stodon @madargon for helping with their posts on these issues :D Let's get our back! (As much as we can anyway)

    hiramfromthechi,

@nakdim @Em0nM4stodon @madargon It really bothers me that many/most employers require LinkedIn. We shouldn't be subjected to a platform's invasive and unethical business practices for employment.

    hiramfromthechi, to privacy

Any device that needs to be off because it can't be trusted with your conversations should not exist in the first place.

    hiramfromthechi,

@anderspuck that's part of the issue here.. they're equating "muted" with "isn't listening," which isn't the same thing.

If something is muted, it means it's not producing volume. But just cause it's not producing volume doesn't mean it's not listening.

If it's "muted" in the sense that it can't hear you, there's still no way to confirm this is actually the case.

These devices are always "passively" listening anyways, which means they're listening for the "wake" word to "actively" listen. 👁️👁️

    hiramfromthechi,

@NatureMC the EU certainly has a much better track record then the rest of the world when it comes to digital privacy and security. Let's hope that continues.

💡 New startup idea that I wanna workshop publicly 👇

📲 SwapMyOS: a GrapheneOS installation service

    #privacy #security #grapheneos #cybersecurity #startups #indiehacker #buildinpublic

    hiramfromthechi,

@BigAngBlack You mail in your device, and I'll put GOS on it.

Whether it's an old device or a new one, well that's your call.

    hiramfromthechi,

    @BigAngBlack

    > Does that included devices that cant unlock bootloader

Nope, the device must allow the bootloader to be unlocked.

    > dont have a Graphene image available currently

Yes, it would include devices that don't have a GrapheneOS image on it currently. That's the point of the service. :)

    hiramfromthechi,

@BigAngBlack If the bootloader can be unlocked, then you can theoretically put GrapheneOS on it.

With that said, GOS officially only supports the Pixel line due to its chip and other security standards.

And yep, I'll manually install GOS on each and every device individually.

Oh, and I'll also kick back a percentage of the revenue back to GrapheneOS to keep the project funded.
