Just accidentally discovered a lifehack: when eating a crummy croissant sitting in bed - wear your jumper inside out!
Isn't is great how slobbiness * executive dysfunction ^ 2 = life hack?!
Backstory - based on a post by @molly0xfff , I was intrigued by the idea of Ghost - and leaving Substack. I read the Platformer newsletter last week about all the controversy and will bail out of there shortly.
I started out creating a site over at Ghost.io, but I like self-hosting my stuff, so on a cold wintry day, I went down the rabbit hole.
I'm a huge fan of RunCloud for my server management, and so I followed this handy guide.
I'll use it as another path to post my Daily Inspiration post, which I have been writing every morning since early August 2016 (when some personal circumstances drove me to a life of clarity.) My next one goes out ... tomorrow morning.
If you could help me stress test my setup by signing up, that would help me out. You might like my posts too. You can leave at any time.
I'm looking for historical examples where a closed, monopolistic network (like, say, Twitter), was supplanted by an open one (say, the Fediverse) and what turmoil ensued.
AOL and the internet is the obvious one, but is there anything else?
Curious about something. How do you go about planning things for yourself or your family?
Thinking of the following high level options but curious about other options so mention them in comments.
Please share for reach. Thanks!
A great review, LOADS of great photos too. What else was I expecting from Craig?
"And while I was suspicious of the value of the camera at first, these past six months have made it clear that this machine has serious legs. I now understand the limitations of this photographic instrument, of which there are few. And I trust and enjoy it more than any other camera I’ve owned."
One of the RAID disks in the database server 5 failed and it needs to be replaced as soon as possible.
I requested the replacement and expect it to be done in the next couple of hours. This requires the server to go offline but it should take less than an hour.
I will update here once the intervention starts/finishes.
Only instances using the Database 5 will be impacted (see the database server in your Masto.host account).
Sorry for the inconvenience. This week servers decided to act up :|
Absolute nonsense #ESA plans for space generated solar power. IIRC, one of the studies was supposed to be delivered two years ago.
Such huge structures in space will be highly vulnerable to space debris or malicious attacks, to name just two apparently unsolvable security problems. It'll be interesting to see what the numbers say, when comparing the total cost for such a monstrosity with similar plans for solar power generation on the surface of the Earth.
