  • davidmack,

@lilithsaintcrow - “A Fuss at the Golf Course” is, I think, the best episode of the entire series. The very epitome of what makes the show great.

It was inevitable: FIREWALL got its first 1-star review on Amazon from a reader who — you guessed it — seems upset about the book’s pro-queer, pro-trans themes. All I have to say is, if this is who is being angered by my book, I'll wear their one-star reviews as a badge of honor.

The FSF Popcast had me on to talk about my new Star Trek: Picard novel FIREWALL, which tells the story of how, when, and why Seven of Nine became a Fenris Ranger. Give it a listen to go "behind the scenes" of the book!

Made a brief but enjoyable visit to the offices of Simon & Schuster, to chat with my editors both former & current, as well as with the splendid publicist who is helping to promote my #StarTrek #Picard novel FIREWALL.

While there, I signed 20 copies of Firewall for an upcoming GIVEAWAY, which will pair each copy with a free Fansets replica pin of the Fenris Rangers calling-card transceiver chip. More details to come!

2020: The UK follows through on “Brexit,” screams “We quit, you Euro fuckholes!”, spits on the EU Council, and takes a collective shit on the floor of the EU Parliament.

2023: Britain cries out at the EU in dismay and rage, “Why aren’t we invited to your picnic, you scheming fucktards?!”

I am still absorbing the enormity of the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling that Trump is ineligible to appear on the ballot.

It was a long day, so forgive typing errors.

It seems to me that there was plenty of due process, Colorado law empowered its elections officer to determine qualification, and the elections officer did so.

I don't believe there has to a finding in criminal court that Trump engaged in insurrection for Section 3 to apply. . .

    davidmack,

@Teri_Kanefield - Exactly. MAGAts are enemies of the state and represent a clear and present danger to democracy.

After roughly 30 years of writing stories for STAR TREK, I’ve penned an essay about the profession of writing Trek tie-ins. It examines the fine line that separates officially licensed fiction from fan fiction, and what those distinctions mean (and DON’T mean).

My essay will be part of =STRANGE NOVEL WORLDS=, an insightful collection of new essays on the subject coming in 2024 from McFarland Books, edited by Caroline-Isabelle Caron & Kristin Noone.

I know I’m late to the party, but has anyone else here watched all of Amazon Prime’s series TALES FROM THE LOOP?

It bucks the trend of action SF in favor of thoughtful, bittersweet character-driven stories fueled by SF weirdness.

By turns wistful or even deeply sad, this one will stick with me.

Things you didn't know you needed to know:

The TV series BARNEY MILLER and CASTLE both were originally aired by ABC Television, and both are set in the fictional NYPD 12th Precinct. We can therefore assume they are part of the same fictional universe.

The fact that the squad rooms look nothing alike isn't an issue, because the plot of the Barney Miller finale was that their building had been sold, and the precinct was moving.

    You're welcome.

I was interviewed by Dan Leckie about my work as a consultant for Season 1 of STAR TREK: PRODIGY.

tl;dr = It was a pleasure & a privilege to offer my suggestions to the Hageman brothers & their awesomely talented writers, and I eagerly await Season 2 as a fan.
