I think about this quote from @georgemonbiot a lot:

“The idea that some people may freely poison others is one of the most astonishing but least contested aspects of modern life.”

What if making progress on climate change doesn't mean doing everything the same way, except with less CO₂ emissions, but fundamentally changing the way we interact with nature and with other people?

Over its lifetime, #cement already removes ~43% of the CO₂ from its production through carbonation (currently ~1 GtCO₂/yr). So if CO₂ is injected into cement during production (i.e., lower carbon cement), is that considered additional carbon removal? 🤔

Another advantage of bikes over cars: It takes much less water to wash a bike.

Elected leaders in Alameda, Calif., voted early on Wednesday to stop scientists from testing a device that might one day be used to artificially cool the planet, overruling city staff members who had found the experiment posed no danger. 🤨

Yesterday would have been the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, but oceanographers and our ability to make predictions called for a one-day delay. This ensured that the landings were a success. #WorldWarTwo

Serious question: Why is it that bicycle commuters in Paris are in super stylish street clothes, whereas the ones in London dress like they're in the Tour de France?

We want to keep global temperature rise below 1.5°C because we don’t want to live in a dangerous world.

Then we say we need up to 10 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) per year by 2050 because we’re not decarbonizing fast enough.

However, CDR is a limited resource, and we likely won’t be able to get to 10 billion tonnes a year.

If we don’t want to live in a dangerous world, the only parameter we can change is how quickly we decarbonize.

NOAA and DOE are two federal agencies that are funding our work on monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of marine CO₂ removal (mCDR) at [C]Worthy. It’s great to see this coordination.
