We got the final results for the #Hockey polls I put up a few days ago...and it's tight. Looks like there's no real split opinion on how either of the series go.

For what it's worth, I didn't get to vote in my own poll (thanks Mastodon?) but I'd give given the edge to both the Stars and the Panthers.

I think Edmonton's goaltending is their Achilles heel, and I think the Panthers are just too deep to be worried by the Rangers.

Still, I've been wrong before.

Credit to #GreatBritain who found a way to beat #Austria at the #IIHFWorlds today. Unfortunately relegation from the top group is confirmed, but they'll end their tournament with a nice win and can hold their heads high.

We're not a big #Hockey nation, but with each win comes little more experience and that counts for so much at this level.

Tonight task: Set up Xcloud on my Steamdeck.

Shouldn't be too difficult, although it is more difficult than it should be.

For a company that wants it's platforms available on other devices the fact that I can't install something on Desktop mode to just have this work seems shortsighted.

I've officially requested a place for my son at the local primary school's attached nursery.

His big sister went there. It's on the school grounds. And we get on great with the nursery teachers.

Because it's not run for profit we also don't get hit with ridiculous add-on charges that private places use to earn money.

With the funded hours it'll likely only cost us £50 a term or so.

Dickhead next door is smoking at her little table again now that the weather has improved.

Her little table is about 5 feet from where I'm sitting in my living room, and directly below my daughter's bedroom.

So despite no-one in my household smoking, we get to enjoy 4-5 months of everything smelling like cigarettes.

Going forward I think I'm going to have to ditch my #Videogame podcasts that don't feature at least one host with a kid.

Listening to twenty-somethings that have almost unlimited time and basically no responsibilities is just too unrepresentative of my own experience with life that I really struggle to relate or even enjoy their output.

I've really been enjoying the @crossplayblog podcast called #SpawnPoint, but I refuse to believe that's it for Gaming Parents?

I'd argue that the 'Verified' system was already a bit of a mess.

It should mean that the game runs, and runs to a pretty solid level on Deck.

It doesn't mean that at all. It's an absolutely horrible way to work out if your #SteamDeck can play a game and at this point I've stopped using it as a guide. ProtomDB or @steamdeckhq for me.

This is like the first time in my 17/18 years of fandom that I won't be able to watch an #AllCaps playoff game and as much as the team sucks ass, that does make me sad.

The series itself? I still think the boys can win a game or two. Let's be honest here though, trying to beat this NY team was always going to be an uphill struggle.

This teams playoff run was just getting into the playoffs in the first place; that was the fun bit.

It's barely 7am and I've already spent two hours parenting before a full ten hour shift at work. In short, it's been rough.

To make it worse. My kids just put on the latest episode of #Bluey.

I am not emotionally or physically able to handle this emotional abuse before work, but alas, here we are. Thoughts and Prayers please. It's gonna get messy. And that's before I even start at work.

Not that I'm counting the days or anything but in exactly one year my 2 year old will be eligible for the 30 funded hours of childcare.

Like his big sister I'm hoping to send him to the local primary schools attached Nursery. She loved it. Hopefully he will too. Fingers crossed.

Young people; get involved, get engaged. Our politics is dictated by the aged. If we want a better deal for young people then we need to get young people voting. Strike fear into the hearts of politicians who think you don't give a shit because you don't appear to give a shit. Go and fucking vote.

I've been playing #PrinceOfPersiaTheLostCrown over the last few days and you know what? It's damn good fun. Perhaps a little talkier than I'd like, but that very small nit aside I'm having a blast and can't wait to get back to it.

Also, given I like this...and have had a blast with Ori and Hollow Knight in recent months, is it fair to assume I'm now a fan of the humble #Metroidvania?

Just finished the 'first' episode of the new podcast from @patrickklepek and Kezza Macdonald called 'Spawn Point' @crossplayblog

I've been looking for a parent friendly gaming podcast since I became a parent six years ago, and whilst there are podcasts that have parents on them, this is the first time I've ran into one that is entirely focused on parents, kids and games.

I absolutely loved it.
