@JenMsft use it all the time, but still cannot get over the change that put them in rows on win11 (they were columns in win10, which I think is a better format ๐Ÿฅฒ).

Until now, Edge was the only browser to have a perf tool for investigating slow CSS selectors in long style recalculation events.

The Edge team "upstreamed" the code into Chromium, so starting with 125, Chrome also has this feature!

@stephaniewalter dark mode is essential for me when I have a migraine which almost always includes light sensitivity (have to set monitor to 0% โ—‘/๐Ÿ”† and turn on dark mode), but also I cannot use your site during the day if you offer only dark mode. What infuriates me when sites have either modes but for some reason won't respect my preference... Thanks for blasting me with light mode and quite literally causing me pain? Although mostly my Dark Reader warden is able to protect me ๐Ÿซ‚ /nbh

@stephaniewalter yeah, the media query. I usually never change theme manually because I like it to be in sync with my system so it can be changed everywhere all at once, as I use auto dark modeยน to have it changed automatically or with a single click.

Some sites, however, will provide both themes and a toggle, but won't have an option to sync it to the media query, always requiring manual intervention. Here's one example at the top of my head: https://nuxt.com/.

    @rodhilton is this a GDPR violation though? Upon deleting the account they anonymise all your contributions. Moreover, those answers aren't personal data, so I don't think they're treated the same.

    I think they're in the legal right here and everyone who ever posted on StackOverflow just got trapped by giving away their rights through Terms of Service :(

    Pavel โ€˜I platform nazisโ€™ Durov should actually shut up about Signal, because unlike the former, his Telegram doesn't even try to do any sort of end-to-end encryption and no one is using Telegram's secret chats because how unreliable they are. I'm also yet to see the actual reviews of his bespoke encryption protocol, which has been criticised and already had several vulnerabilities.

    @Techaltar I'm kinda with Matt here. I do like some changes they make to W11, but I still haven't recovered from loss of W10 Start menu. The new menu is so laggy and buggy, while providing significantly less functionality, and it's been a really hard hit after they removed start tiles.

    I know there weren't many tiles, but I used it for clocks, todos, calendar, weather and other things, so it's incredibly sad that I can no longer just press Start to see weather or time in US, for example...

    @Techaltar they did work fairly reliably for me, and updated real-time, like world clocks all would refresh immediately a minute began, todos refreshed on updates. The only issues I had with them is when I managed to crash Explorer or otherwise improperly restart it, then the tiles were just app icons. The correct way to restart Explorer, as it turns out, is to go to Task manager, select Explorer and click Restart, not Exit it with Ctrl+Shift+RMB on taskbar and then Win+R explorer... ๐Ÿซ

    @not2b if you generate it once, you will then have one instance generate something obscene and then that'll propagate across the fediverse. See bluesky for example where preview is generated and attached to the post on the client which allows to create fake links and embeds. This is not something you'd want.

    @rockmanjoe Mastodon does cache link previews, so one instance generates preview onceโ€”it's not per post and not per user. Which still doesn't help much given the amount of instances out there, but the alternative isn't nice either: you don't want to trust a random instance to generate a preview for the entire fediverse to propagate.

    @cyrus I mean, copyrighters will always try to DMCA and GitHub will follow it and strike down the requested pages, as long as request sounds at least somewhat valid, because GitHub is not an arbitrator. However, you can appeal, and GitHub will restore everything: Popcorn Time repos have been brought down several times, so was youtube-dl, but those claims have no basis behind them, and usually โ€˜easilyโ€™ appealed.
