If you think claiming PIP is so easy that even those who aren't actually disabled can get it, prove it.
Fill out the application.
Gather the evidence.
Go through the assessments.
Let's see if you can get even the lowest rate.
Go on, I can wait.

Sunak: disabled people just need to get jobs!
Us: are you ensuring employers are actually accessible?
S: no.
Us: making public transport accessible so we can get to work?
S: no
Us: ensuring there is an option to work from home in all possible cases?
S: no
Us: ensuring employers give sick pay & time off for medical appointments?
S: no
Us: adding proper infection control for immunocompromised staff?
S: no
Us: raising benefits so we can afford medication & access aids to enable us to work?
S: no

Wheelerdax,

Us: ensuring disability benefits assessors cannot use having a job to deny unrelated benefits?
S: no
Us: banning employers from asking for a driving licence in non-driving jobs?
S: no
Us: removing any barriers for disabled people in the workplace at all?
S: no, just get a job!
(And it of course goes without saying that even with all of things in place, not everyone can work, because that's how disability works)

A masterclass in how to get it right when depicting deafness and disability on film (with a few minor criticisms). Here's my take on the latest MCU production, Echo.

On Saturday, I was home alone when the fire alarm went off. With no fire safe lifts I went to my evacuation point, only to discover it had neither an evac chair or call point. Fortunately a kind neighbour got me out of the building, where we discovered the fire was real. No one was hurt, and the fire was put out before it spread and any real damage was done.
But without that neighbour, I would literally have been stuck in a burning building unable to tell the fire service I needed help.

Them: if you don't work you're a lazy scrounger.
Them: if you work you're faking your disability.
Them: working from home is for lazy people. Get back to the office.
Them: disabled people should just work from home.
Disabled people: 🤷‍♂️ what the hell do you want from us?

Are powered wheelchair users at a disadvantage when compared to their manual wheelchair using friends? As someone who uses both, I discuss why there is sometimes privilege without power.
