After nearly 20 years of playing the majority of my games with xbox 360 controllers (first on the 360, now on PC) I'm finally forced to admit I need an upgrade. I've had some of these controllers for so long the housings have actually worn down. They're all on their second or third set of joystick sensors too. And it's annoying keeping up with rechargable AA batteries.

So, I'm looking for recommendations! I'd prefer:

Offset joysticks (eg, xbox) over symmetrical (eg, playstation)
Good, crisp input
Wireless, good range, either bluetooth or dongle (dongle slightly preferred)
Rechargable
Large-ish (I have fairly big hands)
Must work in Linux (primarily Pop_OS)
Extra back buttons are a plus!

I do have an 8bitdo Pro 2 controller, but I find it uncomfortable, undersized, and the d-pad is spongy. Cost isn't an issue within reason; I'd rather spend $75 on a really good controller than waste a bunch of time buying/returning junk.

#Today at the #homelab I had to use an undocumented method to default the nvram on my old dell laser printer to reset a self signed default cert to get printing services back.

Ugh, why are these things so dumb? If you have a self signed cert that's expired and you KNOW it's expired the default action isn't to force the user to go on and delete all the certs (only way to get the self signed setup option back) and make them reset it.

You just fix your own damn cert.

Having a problem with my Calibre-created ebook where its chapters are listed properly in the table of contents, and the pages are counted correctly, in every device including the Kobo app on my iPad…except on my Kobo Clara ereader, where it says 1 of 22 for 3 pages in a row, then 2 of 22 for three pages etc (basically the pages aren’t reflowing with the change of screen and font size).

And I found a reddit thread where someone has the same/similar problem, and asks for a solution, and the only answer is someone informing them that pages are an obsolete concept in Ebooks, and it’s like…have you ever used any ereading device, which will tell you how many pages you have left in a chapter and recalculate that for you if you happen to change screen/font size?

And I’m so annoyed on the question-asker’s behalf. Sorry they didn’t type “pages” in quote marks to prove they know they’re not real in ebooks, or type “number of taps until I reach the end of the chapter” or whatever phrase they needed to use to not trigger a completely irrelevant lecture.

(Maybe it was that technique where you ask a question and log on as a different user to answer it very wrongly to enrage people into giving the correct answer 😂)

Translation has a lot of "right" or "wrong" answers. But there is also a lot of "I think it would sound better like this" or "I prefer this phrase here".

I'm being revised by multiple people, mentored by one. It's very confusing to my brain haha

Revision and mentorship are also very different. You revise only what's really wrong, but with a mentor, there are a lot of revisions "so we can talk about it".

Seems like I'm doing okay so far though 😄 My first ever revision from the committees came back spotless today 😄
